If I had gotten any, I would have already lost 'em in a boating accident. I wreck more boats that way. PMs and boats just don't mix. :haha:

My grandpa gave me one of his old gold teeth that he'd been saving. It looks like a good chunk of gold too, guess I'll find out once I handle the business of pounding the gold out with a hammer.

No but I always give silver rounds to my nieces and nephews and offer to buy them back if they would rather have the cash. I can usually count on at least half of them selling me the silver back - this year only three of them didn't want the rounds and two of them couldn't decide between the two choices they had (1 oz Perth mint year of the rabbit or one ounce Canadian Timber wolf) so they asked me if they could buy an extra one.
I usually go home with a pocket full of silver - this year I came home with just one round from the dozen or so that I passed out.

I got a 1964 JFK half dollar, in BU condition from my mother-in-law. She made a special trip to the local coin store and picked it out for me. Really thoughtful of her. :-)
Waiting for the opening of the 5 ounce ATB's. 4 addresses, 4 sets.

Yes! And what a surprise. I brought some firewood to my neighbors before Christmas. I was in the driveway shoveling snow when they stopped by with a gift basket filled with oranges, tea, wrapped candy and chocolates and said thanks. My wife went through it and we thought there was a wrapped pack of gum. She just opened that pack day after and said, "WOW!" It was a '82 comm half dollar. Very nice.

I'm not entirely sure, actually. I'm sure he must have something cause he doesn't have any visibly missing teeth.

I suggested to my wife that she go up to the local coin shop to pick out something for me (Silver Dollars or bullion), but she shot down the idea right away. With panic in her eyes she said she wouldn't have a clue what to buy and was afraid of making a mistake.
I guess I could have gone myself and passed it on to her since what we give each other is mostly for show anyway. As it turned out she went and bought some clothes for herself, and I ordered some nice cigars for me. We swapped them and wrapped for each other... then pretended to be surprised when we opened them in front of the kids on Christmas Day. We usually only manage one or two actual surprises for each other, and minor ones at that. Even though she knows that anything PM-ish would delight me to no end, I know it ain't gonna' happen.
You can't always get what you want,
But if you try sometimes, you might find,
You get what you need.

PM's are in the eye of the beholder, my neighbor and his wife have both been laid off, thursday my wife called me and said their well pump had gone bad and the company wanted over 1k to replace, they were down to their last 1k the neighbor told my wife and my wife asked if I could change it for them. I spoke with him and told him I would be happy to help him do so as Ive changed several over the years. All the kids came to town for Christmas so Thursday when I came home from work we pulled the well which was 120 foot deep from the ground, he went out Friday am and got new parts he needed and we had his water back on early Friday AM, the kids left and I was finishing up adjusting the pump pressure switch and he wanted to know what he could do to thank us, I told him he already has and just pass the kindness on some day when he could. His eyes were worth more than any PM I could have gotten.

You really lived up to the true spirit of Christmas. There is nothing more valuable on earth than the gift of time.

It is a pretty humbling experience when a grown man has tears in his eyes because he is so thankful that you have accomplished something that he needed done and would have been difficult for him to afford to have hired done. Those acts of kindness are never forgotten!

It's so great hearing stories of people helping each other in times of need!
I thought I hit pay dirt when I unwrapped a gift my wife gave me and to my suprise a box from apmex. I was so excited but when I opened it there were dvd's in it. she and I had a laugh over it and she promsed to get me SAE's next year.

I've been trying to educate my wife & kids to the "metals thing".
I hate giving gifts that depreciate the moment you open them.
This year My wife got one of those 5 gram Pamp Fortuna pendants. I included a nice 14K chain that I bought used at just a little over melt.
To my oldest age 26 son I gave a $5. GAE I'm hoping to stimulate a little interest so that If I kick the bucket, he can help my wife divest wisely.
My youngest got computer junk.... :vollkommenauf:

This really was from Santa!
a tad early for Xmas - on the 19th - right alongside the city trash container at the corner of my street... (posted this in the Prospecting thread that day)
:bandit:
looksee what I found next to the garbage on the street corner tonight...
there was mouse poop in the glass bowl... and the base was black as soot...
base weighs about as much as 3 10 ounce bars...

Amazing what people throw away... :bandit:
uh... talked to somebody who told me that the glass may even be worth more than the base... 20s or 30s Art Deco...

Same here. I give my niece and nephew a silver coin every year, this year they received Koalas. They are not old enough to understand, but hopefuly someday they will. Pretty and shiny holds their attention for a few seconds, a pretty and shiny critter a few more.

I have 3 nephews and I started the tradition of giving them an oz of silver on b-days and christmas. 2 of them freak out and run to look up the coin or bar they just got in the silver book thier mom got them, the other one barely looks and tosses it aside and dives for the plastic china junk.
So this year 2 nephews got 2005 Kookaburras and one got plastic china junk.
For thier b-days the 2 will get Britannias, and one will get more landfill fodder.

I have enough in stock I can give out 2 a year no matter where silver go's. They already have 6 oz each, so I'd say they are already smarter than thier parents.

Would it be receiving if I planned to give some out, and then "forgot" to do so?
The recipients on my list are far happier with FRNs and gift cards anyway...
