I would like to start investing into metals on a short term basis. I will still be keeping a separate investment of physical during my so called shorting.
My question is what would be the best/most profitable way of going about this. My plan is to buy on lows and sell on highs. I am unsure whether I should go buy from my dealer, or if I should do some sort of online trading. My worry with physical purchases is that shipping will start to take a cut of the earnings.
I really am new to this aspect of PM investing, so any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Short term buying and selling you might as well just trade paper PM's online.

Physical PM investing is best suited for long term. If you want to buy the lows, remember that PM's can be hard to find in a dip, but you might still find it at Tulvings or Apmex. Likewise, physical PM can be difficult to sell in a spike.

Any suggestions on sites or anything. Not even sure where to start.

Hi
Lots of good scoop here, just look around.
Looking for advice?
What peaked your interest and what are your monetary goals would be a good starting point...
Speculation? Inflation protection? Wealth preservation?
Bankroll...Thousands? Hundreds? Tens of thousands?
Whatever you do, TAKE PHYSICAL POSSESSION...you want to hold the real stuff, not a promise.
Good luck, and Happy Investing..

I don't know either, but someone will probably read this thread and give us the info. I don't want to know where to trade paper silver, I have enough bad habits already!

Investing is worth learning about.
As for sites to buy PM's there are many around.
colorado gold, apmex, tulving etc.
Reason for holding long term because there is a vig you pay
that wouldn't make it profitable to flip on the lows and highs.

Really what I'm looking to do is a secondary type of investment to supplement my PM purchases. From what I've read my best bet is to buy paper then seeing as I have no interest in taking physical in, but rather just looking to make my investment power grow. I need to find some instructions and tips on best ways to go about certificate buying and selling.

For in's and out's I would stick with the standard ETF's, Gold is GLD, Silver is SLV, Palladium is PALL, Platinum is PPLT
