Las Vegas casino unveils vending machine that spits out gold
9:58 AM, Jan 6, 2011
Just when you thought you'd seen it all in Las Vegas comes Gold-To-Go.
It's a machine that will actually sell you gold bars and coins.
"We kind of like the idea that Vegas is sorta over the top," said Gary Del Prete
with the Golden Nugget. "And what better than to have a gold plated vending
machine that's open for basically 24 hours?"
The machine is positioned right across from the casino under a pair of golden
light fixtures.

The second Gold-to-Go machine in the US. Very good. The more the better. I'd love to buy some gold from one, just for the novelty if nothing else.

The announcer was right when he said that it is a wise investment after winning at the tables!

I thought it was interesting that he said the other gold machine in the U. S. installed earlier (in Boca Raton, FL) is so popular that it has to be refilled every three days.
I hope these machines make it to every large city in the nation. The more press they get, the better. Might help to wake the people up.

I don't play Vegas, but I'd play a slot machine that spits out gold bars instead of phony phiat paper "credits.".

My receipt was numbered #292 yesterday evening when I bought some here in Vegas at the Golden Nugget. There was even a nice hired rep to explain everything.

How was the price?

There was some silly segment on 60 minutes tonight about gambling. I tuned it off after about 10 seconds, but they started with the fact that there are 850,000 slot machines in the US, more than there are ATM machines.

"How was the price? "
The price...not cheap. 1 gram was $60. I don't remember the other prices but I think a premium to them as well. You are paying for the convienence and the pretty box it comes in. Thankfully as soon as I won $60 playing video poker I bought one. So I used the house's money.
If anyone wants me to buy one and ship it to them let me know.

That's cool, definitely a bit high on premium. Will have to try it next time I'm in Vegas, just for the novelty of it.

I don't think $60 is all that high for a gram of gold. I think of APMEX as having fairly average premiums. There are merchants who are higher and some who are lower. A gram of gold at APMEX right now is $63 to $65. That's at spot of $1376.90, maybe a couple of bucks more than it was when user244075 bought his gram. So it really doesn't seem so bad.
I would like to know what the premium over spot is for an ounce of gold from that machine.
