For one thing, there should be a red line representing hard assets that tracks the other two. It's amazing that PM's aren't higher, but even more amazing that real estate is in the dumps.

My take?
A conjuncture of falling GDP crossing the rising debt ceiling.

My uncle Ben told me "Dont look at the blue line boy, just look at the grey line...........here, have a cookie" and then he patted me on the head and popped in my favorite video to watch. I felt all better.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with this chart. : /
The chart is exponential, what ever year you stop it it would look the same in terms of the general curve... the disturbing thing about the tail end of that chart is that the increase in debt is no longer buying any increase in GDP... however, expect the the GDP line to tick up... all this new money will buy a kick and a splutter to some degree and it looks to be starting now.

As they said in ghostbusters, the streams are never suppose to cross. Of course, some wise guy (Bernanke) couldn't help himself and just had to find out.

It appears there are divergent interpretations of the chart even here. In the Government circles I assume they take it to mean wonderful things.
But then the gov't. version of wonderful was always different than mine. If they were actively trying to kill the economy this is a great way to do it.
