I recently ordered cases of peppers, onions, tomato powder, butter powder, eggs and creamy potato soup from Sam's Club to go along with other veggies I have been dehydrating with some of the great tips I pick up on this site. Some of it was quite reasonable compared to places like Honeyville. Anybody try this company's stuff out and how did you like it? Now I have got to figure out where to put 34 #10 cans!! :bear_tongue::bear_blink:

Please be aware that, while all #10 cans are the same size, they don't all contain the same amount of product. This makes it very difficult to compare prices among various brands.
For instance, the Augason Farms dehydrated butter contains 20 1/2-cup servings (never mind who would ever consume a half cup of butter as a serving) whereas the Emergency Essentials #10 can contains 192 1-tablespoon servings of dehydrated butter. The AF can costs $17.35 and the ES can costs $21.50. Which is cheaper? The AF can is cheaper, but not by as much as it would appear.
After you convert the ES contents to 1/2-cup servings (8 TBLS per half cup), you discover that it contains 24 servings, 4 more than the AF can. The ES can actually contains 2 more cups of product than the AF! Thus, the AF dehydrated butter costs $0.87 per 1/2-cup serving and the ES product costs $0.90 per serving. So the AF product in this case is still less expensive, just not $4.15 like it appears at first glance, but merely $0.62 cheaper.
Look at what I had to go through to figure that out. And what I'm discovering is that this problem seems to be true across the board. I don't want to rain on anybody's parade here. Just want to remind you that appearances can be deceiving. Anybody notice, for instance that the half-gallon cartons of orange juice now hold only 59 ounces, not 64?

I can agree with that. Do not delay. Don't they say, Better to be a year early than to be a day late? And in my experience, while I make an effort to shop price, I know I'm virtually never, ever going to get the absolute lowest, rock-bottom price. Unless you're buying something that is extraordinarily expensive, that is a fool's errand.
