I love nickel. I am waiting for it to hit $50 so I can say "I told you so" to the naysayers.

There were a whole slough of resurrections that day, Hyperkitty was another notable 'zombie'.

One of my more memorable days was when under my first GIM incarnation I innocently suggested we start a woman's board. The Mods put up a password protected forum for the ladies and some of the men simply lost their minds... :wub:Im not sure what they thought we were doing in there but it sure did upset
them being excluded..
And for the record the password on the board was the Mods idea not the ladies..

I consider that a modern-day classic. The thread starter was Percival, or whatever his nome-de-net was at the time.

what about the guy that said there were fake gold maples floating around? :cry1:

Are you talking about the guy who said the fakes were Philharmonics and they were made from 90% gold. His name was Skeptic. Talk about irony!
That had to be the longest running and most vitriolic (especially between Mamboni and the Skeptic) in GIM1 history, and that is vitriolic indeed!

Is that the guy who sawed them in half to prove it?

Jesus, how could I forget that one! Didn't another GIM1 member go to Skeptic's location and check his claim out?

You only think that becuase you weren't around for the Hyperkitty vs. Panda/Midas wars.
Yeah, but I don't remember what he concluded or how he concluded it. Skeptic claimed he had one of the coins assayed but he would never produce the paperwork. The Phil (the supposedly 90% one) ended up in my hands where I weighed, measured, pulled specific gravity tests and compared it to a couple of my Phils and finally concluded that there was absolutely no difference between Skeptics Phil and the ones I'd bought from APMEX. Plus the specific gravity was in the 19's whereas 90% would be in the low 17's.

That was just prior to a certain mod going on a ban rampage. It was like the nite of the long knives. When you awoke the next day a bunch of the people were gone.

I can't recall which mod, was it Skyvike?
Another seriously good day was the April fools when the mods banned the mods, that was classic. I smelled a rat right off, but it got a lot of folks collective goats.
Yo Vike, you're a peach!!
