Remember old friend that PCGS has a however small preference for MINT STATE coins (they grade them higher)
I.E. FOR my MS 70 spouses that I had to buy on the open market in Mint packaging.
And, NGC has a small preference for PROOF coins. (they grade them higher)
I.E. again they graded my proofs HIGHER. Whereas PCGS marked them down a few grades. Some type of a
IMVHO of course because I've seen it personally - as I submit to both.
So match your coins to PCGS or NGC. The slabs do NOT matter that much they are so damn big either way, right?
Personally - I would use NGC for the SPs and PCGS for the MS varieties.
Some type of a professional :heeeelllllooooo::pissr: 'ing contest to be top dog IMVHO - & :piss: on the clients.

Well..........PCGS seems to command a higher price. And esthetically the NGC slabs are huge. If that helps.
As for asking them to slab only the 70's, I don't know, but I'm sure they have an option for that. You'll be paying for the examination anyway, why not take the slab? As for raw selling for more than a slabbed 69, you can always crack it out, but in the meantime it'll be protected. And you already have the mint boxes too.
I think they charge an extra $25 just for the slab/plastic. Has anyone who is a member of said grading services checked the MS70 population on any of the "P"'s?

NGC has grade 3246 total SPs and drum roll please .... 1372 were SEVENTIES
PCGS has graded 1947 total SPs and raspberries please ... 534 were SEVENTIES
I told YA so.... OLD FRIEND!
Strap on the six-shooter and send them IN!
PS I just looked at the MS varieties and NGC grades them about 85% MS69.
So that's a good bet too on these specifically.
GOLD they are a lot harder on in MS.

Aren't those SP numbers on the original 2010 bullion ATB coins (FUBAR 33,000 minted each)? I was hoping someone would have numbers on the mint marked "P" ATB's (27,000 minted each)?
EDIT: my bad. Just looked at ebay and saw the "SP" designation. So, what does "SP" mean?

SPECIAL?
Special PRODUCT of the MINT - who knows - it means it's the ONE with the sand blast finish also called MAT.
The early Saint Gaudens $20 proofs had this finish the the coin collectors hated it - now they are worth your home!
Don't miss your chance - buy several - when not if silver hits $100 these will be $1000 bills.
I actually like it BETTER except for the MS Deep Mirror Proof Like Hot Springs looks a tad better because of the art work - perhaps?
Guess that's left side (the artsy fartsy) side.

.
Your estimate is way too low. By my calculations, silver wil hit at least 1 bajillion dollars by november.

The reason NGC fell out of favor for the MS bullion variety was because they drastically cut back the PL grade and just about eliminated the DMPL. There are some of those that are very worthy of those designations.

'SP' stands for specimen. It is a designation given to specially made mint state coins. Technically they are not proof coins, because they do not undergo the same rigorous process that defines what a proof coin is, but they are minted in a special manner which sets them apart from a typical mint state coin. In the case of the 'P' mintmark ATB coins the special surface treatment the coins receive after they come off the presses qualifies them for the specimen designation.

1K for a BU PCGS set? I sure hope there's at least one set available in the morning at that price :D.

Ony a few (4?) BU PCGS sets historically on ebay in the last couple weeks. No sale at BIN $1600, but selling for $1400-$1500.
I'd buy every PCGS set they had for 1K each.

I opened my GC puck today. I freaked out at first. The bottom of the outside said NP3 Yosemite. But the GC coin is in there and looks great. Anyone else get a mislabeled outer sleeve?

D@mn't to hell!!! I thought we had a deal guys... Everyone was going to stop buying these so the mint would have to sit on a stash for a while and thereby lower the price of future releases. You guys suck for not going along with the plan :p ;) !

Got mine yesterday. I paid extra for the gift box (not worth it) but did not pay for the "overnight" shipping. I paid the standard $4.95 and still received the coin 1 day later. I ordered within the first 5 minutes and got my coin yesterday, which is plenty fast enough for me, considering the bargain basement delivery charge.
Coin looks great, but this thread is useless without pictures. Maybe I will line up all my "p" pucks for a little photo shoot.

With the RICO GOVY suit LAWSUIT: maybe ZERO....
RICO Suits Against Two Banks = Metals To Soar
Mary Holloway Love,
Precious Metals Examiner
On 30 June 2011, Federal RICO Suits were filed against JP Morgan Bank and HSBC for gold and silver manipulation, resulting in extremely large short positions which the Banks then precipated drastic selloffs in Jan 2008 and Feb 2010 by manipulating the prices of both the bullion itself, underlying options, ETFs and other mining stocks as well. Chris Weber of Weber Global Opportunities announced this weekend that silver should rise rapidly to at least $100/ounce, as it is very undervalued due to the alleged manipulation by the Bullion Banks named. Gold and Silver were both hit hard pricewise on Friday's trading in the bullion, as well as the ETFs and the equities representing the mining stocks.
Most of the analysts, economists and traders on news and economic telecasts this weekend, as well as in print, are expecting the markets to open higher. This column for the last eight or so months has advocated buying the physical hard asset (gold/silver) either buillion, bars, coins or what is known as "Junk Silver," and ardently advocated taking physical delivery.
Due to the industrial demand for silver and the increased usage of the metal due to the rapid development of developing nations, the amount of PHYSICAL silver dropped 90% from 1998-2005. This activity decimated the amount of physical silver available, yet the banks indicted continued to sell more gold and silver than was actually in their possession. ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) which are a derivative of the bullion, trade as equities, but are redeemable (in theory and contractually) into the actual physical metal. There is a "parachute clause" that will let the Federal Reserve redeem the ETF shares for fiat currency, but few investors pay attention to that fact, and it is not one that brokers are want to disclose easily, though it is contained in the written prospecti for each fund.
