Info on another site indicates there are GC's without the vapor blast. PL surface. Could be more of the poor QC but could turn into a big deal if there are a number of them that way.

So far I have only been disappointed in the Yosemite coin. My coin has a small nick just on the head, next to his sideburn. I scanned all the coins and that's the only real blemish I could find.

Did anyone else get a mislabeled sleeve for their Grand Canyon coin? Mine on the outside bottom sleeve has the NP3 Yosemite sticker.

My GC has the exact same nick as well as two others of the same size in the same area. I'm thinking about returning it.

That's not a nick, that's a dimple. :flute:

They give you a return LABEL, right?

PERHAPS you should cut it out and slap it on the return box and ship the P.O.S. (read LOW GRADING PUCKER)
back to the OBAMINATIONS that run the two-bit joint.

Yeah, saw that on the bullion coin, it is a pretty cool design overall. Being "old" I can't see it on the quarter (and I still don't wear reading glasses); the design was obviously made to be seen in the larger size. Haven't got my "P" version yet, and I'm praying that Mrs.Old is not home when it arrives....(NO, I'm not buying any silver or gold at all any more dear..too expensive).

No PL, but both coins are nice enough...these things are making me crazy...soon as I say that's enough, here comes another one!!

So GC now has a ship date of 7/21. But today is only 7/14. Are we nearing a sellout? Though no mention of a waiting list yet.

Got it today. I was working on the root cellar and Mrs. Old signed for the delivery. Good thing we've been together for 21 years!

I was thinking about these first 2010 'P' coins and I believe that the Hot Springs coin could be the one to have. This is the one that sold out the fastest and some people didn't jump on these right away and now the price is starting to go up a little. I checked some finished auctions tonight and they range from $340-$380. Pretty good I think. No other 'P' mint coin is selling in that range....yet.

The market is absolutely flooded with ATB's by ebay flippers of the 2010-P's. Unless you have grade SP70, you will lose money with ATB'Ps on ebay.

Here is a list of completed sales. Why is it flooded?

You've made my point. All on that list are graded SP70
Now, compile one for SP69's and raw "P"'s in mint box.

Interesting, though. In the latest sales of the Hot Springs coin (sp70), it is the only one to consisently break $600. Yes, a few others break $600, but more often it is Hot Springs. Also interesting is how low you can pay for an sp70 of the others.

When the "no sale" auctions are removed it looks like a total a 38 sp69's sold over a 2 week period.....hardly "a glut"

I guess the word "glut" is a relative term but I submit that final bid price would be much higher if there weren't so many available. So for your benefit, I just say supply is greater than demand for the time being. Maybe price will improve as the flippers wear out but the real proof of in the pudding will come when the 2011-P's come to market.

Question: Is the mint mandated to strike a minimum of 27,000 for each National Park of the collector's version "P"?

MrLucky
07-18-2011, 01:03 PM
I don't think anyone has found any indication as to what the mintage of the 2011's will be. But I hope it's more than the current 27k. It's been a real pain to have to sign for the 1st 4. And they won't let anyone else sign for it. If I miss the delivery man, I have to drive 10 miles to the depot to pick it up. If this continues in 2011, I'll pass on the series. Too much trouble.

And Mrs. Old is due August 7th so little chance she will be out of the house.

What is a coin collector to do? It was better when she was at work all day....
