Not against stacking, but it's not everyone's goal. For those of us who might like to have proof collectibles, the Mint decided not to provide them in the ATB 5 oz park series, instead offering the overpriced sand blasted version that now has been messed up with variations on "coverage" of the material they use. That's why some of us are trying to get the best bullion examples. Graded coins can be a way to accomplish that, but not necessarily as some raw coins are nice enough.

Keep stacking gold, that is where the world psyche is heading...

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I just got distracted by the ATB series.

Minor variations like these are at the whim of the market place, don't get caught up in the BS hype....In the end, they will melt the same...

I'm certainly not arguing your point, but diversifying one's stack is a win-win IMO. I personally feel the majority of your stack should be in Au bullion and 90% silver, but I think it's wise to buy the occasional semi-numi coin if the premium makes sense. Paying $1000 simply because something is hot (like the light finish GC coin) is a fool's bet IMO. However sometimes it's worth just a tad of risk for the positive numismatic potential that modern mint products offer. Some people like to gamble their money away in Vegas or on lotto tickets. I do my gambling with semi-numi stuff instead ;).

For my friends. No matter what you buy as long as it is in precious metals gold silver platinum you'll do fine. Buy as close to spot as possible but add the
slabbing (NGC/PCGS and maybe ANACS) if that your TYPE of thing - it is mine - for in the future the sheeple will need authenticator for their mindsets.

Don't worry there in 100 TRILLION dollar wind at your back and what you hold is better then defaulted promises to keep the US dollar worth.

Go here and put your mouse on the many headlines or categories of the FED - really scary stuff:

Now wouldn't it have been more efficient for the Mint to have just made them all this way? Something for the shiny lovers and something for the blast lovers, all in one coin:love30:

Remember the

Proof Eagle 1995-W $1 DCAM 2,500 2,600 2,600 2,600 2,700 2,850 3,300 30,000

She had over 27,000 mintage at 30,000 and now is valued at $30,000 in PF70 PCGS that is way way RETAIL price.

She's the ONLY one I don't have in MS or PF. Too rich for my blood.

I will probably buy a SP sample per coin - for you River Boat gamblers - I think the 5 oz SP holds a heck of a lot of promise way over the

Appears to be official from the horse's mouth:

http://www.coinnews.net/2011/07/27/us-mint-explains-varieties-in-america-the-beautiful-5-oz-silver-uncirculated-coins/

"The United States Mint statement, shown below, noted that it was "apparent that several varieties" of uncirculated coins existed which had "differing or missing vapor blast finishes."

The cause of the varieties is being investigated. The equipment used in producing the coins appears to be a focal point. The Mint said it relies on retrofitted vapor blasting equipment which was originally designed for 3-inch medals. To address the problems and restore production consistency in its line of America the Beautiful five ounce products, the Mint has ordered new equipment designed specifically for the larger uncirculated coins."

The mint should have worked the dies instead of the individual pucks and ensure consistency in product. But no - each coin is unique - and the hunt is on to find variations.

Two reasons I haven't ordered any. Don't want that axed up coin and I would think they did some QC work to pull out any obvious non blasted coins.

I did order 1 of the hoods

We may be the only original atb junkies left standing for the 2011's newmisty. I'll be buying as they come out. Hope a collector base develops quickly :). I think there are many folks out there just waiting to become hooked on pucks. Maybe an infomercial is in order?

I'm in as well, mainly for the reason that I just can't let go at this point. It is a bold program despite whatever else folks want to say about it. This is exactly how I felt with the spouse program and, although I have blinked a few times, I have stayed the course with that series so far and it it currently seems to be paying off. This program is unprecedented. I believe if I just follow my silly lil numismatic heart ultimately my investor brain will be rewarded for the courage and fortitude it takes to stay in the pocket.

One thing I know for sure today. With 8 sets of 2010 and 2 full sets of 2010 P. I'm holdin some silver :565:

That dance even though I think silver will drop one more time before it resumes its assent to the heaven's. I could care less about any short term moves except to load the wagons more given the opportunity. If not I'll continue to buy slow and steady.

Off topic a little, but just wanted to know how many of your are collecting the bullion coins as well. So far I've got a full 2010-2011 set of the bullion coins, and a full set of the 2010 P set. Is it worth while collecting the whole set of these?

I will get therapy if it proves to be a bad move financially. That therapy will come in the form of large quantities of good dark beer. I am starting that therapy now just in case :)

I'll stack mostly bullion ATB's going forward. A mint tube here.......a mint tube there.

The worthwhile part for sure is that if you collect the whole set of bullions you have a nice stash of silver. I'm in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
