Great pics.
No, the shield looks just like it should. I think it's supposed to be a pine tree in the foreground and a Mountain in the background. Someone from work got their coin on Thursday and I pulled my 10x loop out to take a look. We both initially thought there were scratches on the shield part. But the shield on his coin looks exactly like yours.
UPS tried to deliver my "p" coin for the third time today. I would have been home to accept it, but no, I had to accompany my wife and kids to the neighborhood "play group" instead. The damn mint set up their UPS deliveries such that you cannot call UPS and change the delivery address. By the looks of your pics, as well as my buddy from work's coin, the coin is worth the wait. I see one on ebay in BIN for $425. These will go up in the coming years.

There's a little shield type thing on the reverse that has some scratches in it on mine, other that that it looks perfect. On the COA it says legal tender of the united states but it does'nt have an amount on it like all other legal tender coins, I wonder what that amount is suppose to be. Count me in on the Yellowstone it cost more than ugly silver but just like fine jewelry its worth lt.
I think the "scratch" on the shield is a tree and mountain. Every HS coin should be like that.

lol thanks for the pic that clears it up quite obviously.
also from my pics you might see my coin is not perfect, there are some small white spots that are on geo wash's face (not sure what they are) as well as the "QUARTER DOLLAR" on the bottom seems to be either worn down a bit or the die did not make the impression it should have. there are very small stress cracks around the hot springs lettering as well, other than that it would appear flawless

I noticed the white spots too. Not sure how to do the process but I have heard a lot about acetone dips for similar concerns. I am pretty happy with my P coin. One minor mark on George's eyebrow but otherwise perfect. I think I am done buying (bullion and P versions) but am really interested in the P Yosemite as we took the family to visit last month for the first time.

With the past history of milk spots on the Silver Eagles I would get that coin into an acetone dip ASAP...it removes a lot of crud, smudges and fingerprints. It will NOT remove milk spots but it should take care of those spots if they are just Mint crud. Note: acetone is not benign stuff...it's very flammable and not great to have absorbed through your skin...do a Google search on acetone coin dipping...It does work though.

I was sort'a hoping that the mint would drop the price on the coming yellowstone "P" with spot headed to $30 like a hell bent snowball but I no tink dey will. De premi didn't seem too bad on the hot springs but $24 x 5 = $120 premi is beginning to get into original ApeX territory. That is almost double spot. I'm beginning to have second thots about collecting the ATB "P" versions.
I don't think there will be a major rush to order this time around but I'm sure I will.

If I were into silver, I'd wait myself, seeing as the first ones are still avilable. also no need to go through the ridiculous website problems at first opening...not that I know first hand since I don't own anything. just what i heard

The mint just accepted my order for a second hot springs coin, they would not do so untill this evening.

The mint accepted my second order, 8 days after they went on sale, and before there was a waiting list. They cancelled me 3 days later. But I hope you get it. Maybe they'll allow a second since it's a waiting list.

They also accepted mine last Monday ...and also rejected it 3 days later
I assume you do realize that if they actually do keep the order in place you will be on a waiting list to get someone's reject returns....

Wow thats what that is suppose to be it would have been better left smooth, then slapping some chicken scratches all over it.

Maybe if the coin was a tad bigger, say 8 feet in diameter, it would show the same detail as the pic above. Kinda hard to replicate when you are "only" making a 3 1/2 inch coin.
Just an FYI: on the Gettysburg there is a monument with all sorts of marks on it.....they are not marks....they represent writing on the monument

Well, that order was much easier than the first coin. I guess when the prices are close to double spot the demand dwindles?

Got mine, had to go to a friend's house to get it though, dial-up here wasn't cutting it.
The next coin is up. Painless purchase, well, almost - $50+ per ounce. Puts you in a special club of 27,000.
