Agree Dude. The downside risk is so small compared to the upside potential.

Hey, I saw you on the PCGS site and for the life of me I cannot find the link to register. Can you send me that? I'm an old IBM'er but have built dozens of websites. I'm not a customer at this time.

For some reason, the Mint has decided to not ship my coin yet. I ordered within the 1st hour, yet my order is still in processing? At this rate I may be buying this coin on the aftermarket as the next thing they will probably tell me is that it's sold out. grrrr.

I have called them twice, but have not gotten a good answer as to why it is not shipping. Yes, my cc has been charged. But no ship date or tracking number has been provided.

You know I registered about 3 months ago and remember looking all over to find out where to register. I just don't remember where the heck it was. Sorry dude.

That's a "Buy It Now' seller dangling the bait. After seeing 4 up close, I think many of these will grade 70. Time will tell.

A perfect one sold on ebay for $795.
Probably paid ebay about $80. Now add $279 + 4.95 + $50. These pucks suck. :36_11_6::36_11_6::36_11_6::36_11_6:

Finally got my yellowstone puck today. I'm a newb when it comes to dealing with numismatics, anyone have any advice for what to do? Flip it? Hold it? Have it graded before I try to sell it?

You're gonna wanna go for an SP70 grade if you want to flip.
Once collectors get their coin, it's gonna take some good money to extract it from their hands, IMO.

Just looked at my Yellowstone, 99.9% of the coin looks great, however there are light scratches on one side of the the rim, when I opend the airtight, I noticed little particles of silver on the inside edge of the case in the exact place where there were scratches on the coin (hum). I also found several particles "vapor/cermanic" blast still on the coin along the upper edge of the buffalo/bison's back.

Thanks for the advice, what happens if it doesn't grade for an SP70? Would it be better to leave it in the box in your opinion? I know the ones left in the box sell pretty well, but not sure how the ones that don't grade SP 70 sell.

At least with the mint you can return it, but can you get another one? I'd sure find out if they have any put back just for these kind of issues.

Why not open the capsule and use a lens brush (a very soft brush) and remove the ceramic dust? It won't fix the scratches though. If you need a guarantee of perfection, perhaps buying a graded coin is the only answer.

Have it graded before I try to sell it?No expert, but if you're not sure of the quality of the coin and looking to flip for a quick buck, sell as is, in the box. Grading services like PCGS are slow right now and not cheap. They post prices on their websites. By the time you get the coin back, where will prices be then? If you want to hold it or future flip, then that's another story and you might research ebay prices and grading services, fees, etc. before deciding.

Thanks All for your comments, I did lightly brush away the remaining particles left behind by the vapor process, actually I thought it was kind of cool to see it.
ok, so may not on my coin, I may send it back, not sure, I plan on keeping these for my collection, I'm not a flipper . . . . . (yet)

Yeah, I thought about that, but I decided to open it anyway. The coin is beautiful, and I'm no expert but it looks flawless. Very happy with it. Who knows, might just hold on to it for a while.

Wow, unsolicited advice on the internet. What a surprise. I assumed Vickie didn't know what to do about it or she would have said what she did to fix the problem. Sometimes the best advice is unsolicited, like how to sell the coin for more than you paid for it with just a phone call and a priority mail shipping box or you can just return it and get your money back.

2010-P Yellowstone Five Ounce Coins Sold Out

http://mintnewsblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/2010-p-yellowstone-five-ounce-coins.html

A "waiting list" notice was not posted on the product page, as had been the case for the previous Hot Springs release. Rather, the product was directly marked as "sold out" and removed from the relevant sections of the product catalog.

The sales history is as follows:

May 17: sales begin at 12:00 Noon ET. By the end of the day, sales reach 18,143
May 22: sales reach 24,626
May 29: updated figures not provided in sales report
June 1: product "sold out" of the maximum 27,000 mintage

It took 15 days for the Yellowstone coin to reach a sell out. This was exactly the same number of days that it took for the Hot Springs coin to move to a "waiting list".
