They will have to create two sub categories
- Chinese fakes
- Sellers who will never fulfill the order

Any chance you have a link to this number? I've been debating a few friends on this PM "bubble" we're in the throes of but haven't been able to find any decent sources on PM ownership.

#3: Silver coins sold by the pound. http://goldismoney2.com/images/smilies/standard/haha.gif
Sold by the pound, but doesn't say whether troy or not, whether their postal scale is accurate or not, whether they're mixing in 40% or clad junk.
eBay has had a gold and silver portion of the site for a for a while and they were too stupid to realize that it didn't work beyond the first page.

No.... but this will be the site of the mania IMO. In the past we had lines at gold dealers.... today we will have crazy chit going on at ebay. Site stats for goldandsilver.ebay.com will be valuable, much like the LeMetropole Cafe sentiment indicator but on steroids with real money changing hands.

IF business was easy - everyone would be in business.
90% of all businesses FAIL in the first year - after ten years only a couple survive out of 100.
And now with the ten years of HELL facing us - well that's just what they voted for and got Obummerized.*

#4: Gold by the grain.
Also, here's a quote off the site:
eBay is your one-stop bullion destination
Low prices, no hidden fees
Trusted sellers
Fast delivery

I don't understand why Google, with all its resources, doesn't put up a competitive alternative site to both ebay and Paypal. Sellers are so fed up with ebay and their monopoly there would be a mass exodus.

I emailed google about 3 yrs ago and told them the same thing, no reply.
As far as paypal is concerned, visa is suppose to be coming out with something similar, later this year I think. Paypal will take a huge hit, why use your CC through paypal when you could use it straight from the source.

#5 Gold and Silver way below melt -- This would be a category for those smart enough to realize that 99.XX% of auctions on eBay are legit and are smart enough to sniff out the other .XX%. Buying PM's for way below melt apparently isn't for everyone or the Great Snags thread would have more than the same half dozen posters posting repeatedly.

I've said the same thing multiple times over the last couple of years. While I have no doubt that Google could create a new eBay and potentially put the old eBay out of business, I bet the reason it hasn't happened yet is due to click through revenue. Google makes their money from ads and guess what adds I see more than most from Google ;) ? The day it makes financial sense to compete with eBay is the day that Google launches their own site and proceeds to crush them.

I think it's a good way to collect/accumulate info on ebay PM buyers and sellers in one designated easy to audit place.
