Went to the range today...took some pix before the sun went down.

Some folks don't believe 1:9 will stabilize heavier bullets or "homies" can shoot...

Home-built
DD upper receiver
DD BCG
Citadel ($100 gun show trade, yikes) 20 inch
1:9 floated lightweight barrel
Bushmaster lower w/ RRA 2-stage trigger
100yds in hot, windy conditions
Weaver 1-3x scope.

Three-shot groups (yeah, I know) .33 and .615

77 SMK ahead of 24.5gr Varget

That's good shooting. One in nine may seem slow among the AR crowd, but actually you won't find many rifles or calibers other than AR .223 that twist that fast.

Very nice! I prefer the 1:7 twist, but to each his own. Congrats!

Yeah, my Tikka T3 1:8 with 3-9x scope was not shooting the same load as well...Just goes to show you don't know what rifle/load will do 'til you shoot it.

I'll try putting the Colt 1:7 HBAR on paper next

Got to be pure-dee satisfaction, to build that rifle and have it look and shoot like that ! Congrats !

I've never even seen a 77-grain 5.56 bullet - can you run the loaded round through the magazine ?

Yep, they are about the limit, though.

Nice build. Gotta love that RRA two stage trigger! Is that a Houge grip? That type of grip makes a world of difference in the feel of the firearm.
