Colorized ASE's

I seem to remember a comment or two on GIM1 about some chemical or something that would allow the enamel to peel right off. Anybody remember what it was. I got a couple ASE's in trade at the coin show today that have pics of the pope on them and I would like them better uncolorized. Thanks Mark
