The school district put other buses into service to complete the bus routes.

So the school district has surplus buses:questionmark:

Sell 'em!

Never mind, silly me.

Yup. I figured they wanted the lead. That's why I posted it here.

Trying to sell the whole, working batteries would bring too much attention.

If it's like our school district, they have extra buses because they cut the number of routes. Now all kids within 2 miles of school have to get there on their own (mommy & daddy).

I just can't wrap my head around how the typical scrap thief thinks. Standard size car batteries are around $5ea at the yard so someone went through a lot of trouble for a relatively low payout. Meh, at least they weren't destroying $3000 a/c units for $60 :\ .

You can get $7.50 each for them around here but I haven't heard of anyone stealing them. I'm keeping my house batteries locked just in case.

Mine weigh about 200lbs per 2v cell ( has 2 positive, 2 negative connections), assuming you can get them to slide out of the case of 3...or the case (layer) of 3 does have it's own lifting eyes if you can pick up 600lbs.

I'd appreciate if they let me pull up a lawn chair and watch.............

To get to most of our schools would require walking on narrow roads with 45MPH traffic. There are no sidewalk in most of the area. When I was a kid, they actually would not let the students ride bikes to school, even though we wanted to.
