One tube was 1986 and the other 2011, if that matters.

Under the precious metals security advisory overpaying alert system I would say the threat you overpaid is between guarded (blue) and elevated (yellow). So watch out!

That price that you paid seems to be about what my main local dealer charges for SAEs. My main dealer charges $6 over spot for common date SAE's. The lowest price that I have seen for common date SAE's in the last two weeks in my local area is $4.25 over spot.

That's the funniest way of saying "You paid too much" that I've ever heard .

Yes the premiums suck but that is the environment right now. Had to pay 37.30 an 38 for Cougars so seems to be in the going rate this weekend for these types of coins (ASEs andCanadian). The paper price maybe down but the step up and buy price has barely budged. BTW, very little 90% a tlocal dealer (guess $20 face for beatups).

APMEX has them at $35.71 but after you add in S&H its going to be over $37.

Yeah that seems to be the current environment for silver premiums and as long as the paper spot silver price is in the $29-$31 range, then these type of premiums for SAE's will stay around.

Went to a somewhat local shop for the first time on Saturday, they wanted $42 for ASEs, sold out of Maple Leafs. Were asking $1860 for AGEs too, didn't even bother asking about fractionals.

After reading this thread it seems the premiums I saw at the show on Saturday were cheaper than most are seeing. Spot was at $31.27 and I saw a few eagles for $34, but many more for $35 and $36. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think in terms of dollars over spot but rather percent over spot. The original poster paid 18% over spot for silver and in my eyes that's waaaaay too much for non-numi silver. I would rather buy ATB's if I were to spend that much over spot. While I think it's important to have a core bullion holding, and ASE's are without a doubt the best of the best, it's also important to pay as close to melt as possible for that position.

Of course given the circus we have up in Washington one day, and possibly sooner than we think, $37/oz may seem like the deal of a lifetime ;).

I was at the Lakeland show (http://www.goldismoney2.com/showthread.php?23104-Lakeland-Fl-coin-show-Oct-7th-8th-and-9th). I didn't know about the Melbourne show. There's another show in the next couple of months but it's in Sarasota so it's probably quite a drive for you if you're on the Treasure Coast. I'm going and I know at least one other GIMer will be there so if you decide to go and want to say howdy drop me a PM :). Of course if you know of any Florida shows by all means please start a thread about them so the rest of us will know too. Personally I've done very well at shows and there's nothing quite as satisfying as snagging stuff in person with cash and leaving with your prize. I just wish there was a major one close by every month .

Yep... I hereby release it into the public domain (and absolve myself of any responsibility for/resulting from its use!)

As for the o.p., SAEs from Tulving would as of today cost approx. 35frns in Monster Box quantities (even with the Columbus Day special of +2.59 over spot - okay deal imo), so a few bucks more, and the fact that one of the rolls/tubes is 1986... I think you got a fairly reasonable deal.

I have also done very well at coin shows this year and I am happy with that.

This would be a very long drive for me but there is one Florida coin show that I want to go to during my lifetime and that is the FUN show in Orlando in January. One day I will go to the FUN show but it will not be in January 2012.

At Grapevine, TX coin show this past weekend

- Provident

10 oz NTR bars - $323 ($1 over spot)
Engelhards were available @ $358

one coca-cola silver art bar (only one seen @ show) in a dealer's silver display - $40 (same price as other silver art bars he had)
SAE seemed to be running $35-37

With last Friday's spot price at $31.27, That Coca-Cola silver art bar at $40.00 is a very good price considering that Coca-Cola bars will generally sell for at least $50 and usually much more than that on ebay.

I went to a flea market Monday where there were only two coin/metals dealers among the junk. They wanted $40 per ounce for silver. Silver traded between $32.09 and $32.13 that day.

Yup - I did buy it and was very happy at $40 (common Atlanta - but a nice clean bar)

That is very good Shiny. :) The Atlanta Coca-Cola silver art bar is one the most common Coca Cola art bars among all Coca Cola bars that were minted in the 1970's to the early 1980's. I think that the mintage number for the Atlanta bar is around 21,500 but I need to double check my Coca Cola art bar book when I get a chance later today. With current spot, I have seen these sell for $50 and slightly more on ebay.

Actually I have been a buyer of coca-cola bars on eBay after getting some of your art bar inputs on the various threads. In fact, just won a triple (Houston, Selma and Bristol) for $53 avg

btw - sorry for getting off-topic...

Actually that is not a bad price that you paid per Coca-Cola art bar especially that Selma bar. The premiums on several of those Coca-Cola bars have gone way up recently on ebay especially since the silver smackdown late last month. BTW It was my fault for getting off topic of this thread. I apologize to the OP for causing this thread to go off topic.

I was wrong on the mintage number for the Atlanta Coca-Cola bar. I looked in my Coca-Cola price guide and the mintage is actually 50,000 for the Atlanta bar. The Nashville Coca-Cola silver silver art bar was the one that had a mintage of 21,500. Sorry for the error Shiny.

I think you overpaid a bit. These guys usually sell silver eagles at $3-3.50/oz over spot, depending on qty. Got to order at least a few rolls to make shipping worth it, but $5.60 over spot is a little steep.

The only rare years are 95/96, so year shouldn't matter on price. Just make sure they are in BU quality (Brilliant Uncirculated).
