I was reading there was a silver miner going down this road and I thought it would be a brilliant move! Can't remember which miner it was though. Hoped I could enlist members to compile a list of those names. Here in CDN rules might need adjustment but I was hoping that members might throw out names of miners that are thinking or have maybe already started paying out dividends in physical metal.
Any pitfalls or downside to owning a miner that wants to send you small heavy packages???????
Or is there already a thread established on this subject:yes:

Heard the subject proposed, but don't remember anyone doing it, YET. I'll be happy to hear also. :elefant:

The option of getting dividends in metal is a good thing imo. Even better if they sent you currency of the realm (ASEs in the USA for example), so that you only have to declare the face value. But they probably won't/can't do that.:bear_cry:

Seems this is all fun to think about, investing in an equity and the dividend being paid in some sort of bullion piece, but I think the underlying dream is that somehow the dividend would be "off the radar", not reportable. I don't see this happening, and therefore, don't see the advantage, except to thumb our noses at TPTB. Just sayin'. :elefant:

According to the IRS, that's illegal. You have to report the then current FRN value of the metal received and pay tax on the FRN value.
