I am offered a common date (can't recall date ATM but this guy is in the business) St. Gaudens Double Eagle for spot.
The condition is not bad... probably about EF but its got this cheesy shine on is because it came out of a bezel and some numb nuts shined:shine: the damned thing.:banghead:
I'm currious...who here would buy it? I actually thought about buying it keeping it in my wallet when I travel or in a bezel on some paracord under my shirt.
Then again its really no better than bullion. There can't be much numi-value left. I just hate to see these coins go to the melt pot and this one might end up there soon. Spot is spot to someone in the scrap biz. I got 11.90 face in 2000-2005 ect. state quarters, dimes and halves that are "S" marked (SILVER) proofs that were headed for the pot. He let me swap for some old uglies.

^ What he said ^, gold is gold 99% of the time and having a big chunk you don't mind getting some wear on is a nice pocket piece.

I have a beat up Krugerrand I carry when I want to feel rich. Nobody I show has any flippin' idea what it is or what its worth.

If it's at spot buy it, consider it as bullion, make it a carry piece, you can't lose.

Weigh it and buy at spot. You never know how much's been buffed off.

There are so many non problem coins that I would pass on something like this.
