View Full Version : Who's Getting a New Survival Shelter?

I was driving home from work tonight and saw a flatbed semi carrying 2 large concrete structures that were most likely survival shelters. They were approximately 8 X 8 X 16...both of them on the same trailer. In the 5 seconds that I saw them, 1 appeared to be 100% concrete, the other had some glass that I assume would face into the sun and function as a window or door.

Similar concept as the video below, but much more refined and comfortable.

So how exactly would you get these in the ground without attracting unwanted attention from your neighbors?

My homestead came with a basement that is slowly becoming ever more concealed from view. If you're wanting an underground shelter, it makes a heck of a lot more sense to buy a place that already has an underground space instead of making yourself the object of unwanted attention installing a new shelter.

I would just tell them that after the last storm we had I thought we should have a storm shelter. Most people won't remember it's there things go to hell anyways. We had a tornado warning this week and half the neighbors were outside looking at the pretty lightning show.

If you really want to mess with them, tell them its a playhouse for your kids. You don't want to have them exposed to the sun too much.

Aren't those shelters from a tornado, etc. , rather than to be buried underground? As in Storm Shelters, not Survivalist bunkers?

My bunkers are underground shipping containers, with hidden entrances. Not deep enough to collapse the walls, but just nicely packed in. Those shown wouldd be great but where is the top ventilation, the escape route, etc?

If you do not have city sewer service, you can have "Septic Tank" painted on the sides. Most people will think it is a septic tank. If you have a backhoe show up to do the digging, then they will think nothing of it.

No air vents on the roof, or sides, and a front door? They are above ground shelters, it even says so in the video info!

they look like pre-fab prisons. i wonder if they have a government contract yet. saw a train go by about 2-3 years ago with hundreds of these on flatbed cars.
