How to use the IGNORE feature

If you go to any members home page.
I.E. Click on " View Profile" when you click on the members name by their avatar
or from the members list.
Then there is a list on the top left.
One of them says " Add to ignore list "
Click on it and it prompts you.

I'm curious what exactly the ignore feature does. I'm assuming it won't allow PM's to be sent to you from that person, but what about their regular posts in threads? I guess I'm asking if it's possible to ignore all of Green Light's posts and not have to ever even see any of them again??? Thanks.
