Hiya all,
I'd like to think I'm in for the long haul, but you never know."The best laid schemes o' mice an' men" and all that.
Could anyone offer sound advice on the best ways of selling/trading PM's?
I wouldn't want to sell through fleabay because of the fees.
Also, I'd really like to try and use my PM to accumulate more PM off the back of the SGR.How difficult is this to do?
Up to now all I have done is buy. I'd imagine a noob like myself attempting to trade up is fraught with danger, so any advice on avoiding any pitfalls or minefields would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Perhaps there is a member here who is familiar with the specifics of Scotland.
Do you have coin dealers over there?

Lol, you make it sound like Scotland is some sort of backwater mate.:D
I have noticed a few Brits on here who post from time to time so hopefully they'll chip in with their thoughts at some point.

Some countrys don't have coin shops, you have to buy at banks or gov. run stores. There are quite a few folks from the UK on here who should be able to give you some tips.
I have two coin shops I deal with here and the one guy gives me a great rate for trading silver for gold, as he sells a lot of silver.
You can expect a bit of a spread if you trade, the ratio was 58:1 last time I traded and we agreed at an even 60:1

Backwater? LOL...
When I went to EUROPE I took a money belt with 20 sovereigns in it - like an OLD JAMES BOND. Last year they were having currency problems - boy those sovereigns are now worth over 4,000 euros.
I wanted to make sure I had an alternate currency to JUST get back to the state going underwater - the old robbed of her riches the GOLDEN STATE - California - now in foreclosure due to GOVY.
I would start a thread asking for those in the UK how they buy gold/silver and where, right?

Anything akin to our craigslist over there? Given the VAT and reported problems just finding resonably priced sources for PM's in the UK, I'd think there would be a lot of people interested in private trade, if you can find them.

There is a UK version of craigslist, I've never been on it before so I'll check it out.Thanks.
I received a pm from a Gimmer last week asking if I'd like to buy some silver.I explained money was tight but I was willing to trade. After hearing what I had (British Sovereigns) he politely declined.

Twp points is not bad. I don't think you will find better.
Here is a summary of the plan. (http://www.gold-eagle.com/editorials_03/sanders030703.html) You can email a list of what you have to the addy at the end of the essay. He offers reduced commissions for swaps of gold and silver, typically 3 1/2%. I know nothing about taxes and customs in your area.

IMO, what is wrong with the British Sovereign is that the gold content is not displayed on the coin. Also most poeple find that they need a calculator just to add and subtract, so where your coin contains .2354 ounces of gold they have a hard time figuring out what it is worth at the current spot price. So coins that state 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/10 etc ounces of gold don't need math skills to calculate their values. When it come to bullion coins KISS is your friend!

Yeah, and it's hard to tell a Half Sov `cause it don't say it on there so you better jess stay away from that there ferin stuff.
I'm not attacking you silverwood but I've found that an attitude like that, (I don't understand you so dumb it down to accommodate me), is why the world has a problem with Americans.
Sovereigns, ducats, coronas, etc. have been traded around the world for centuries. If we are too lazy to or simply can't do the math we don't deserve to profit from the deal and should leave that sort of thing to the big boys.

There are Canadian gold coins I have seen on ebay that are beautiful but go for cheap because nobody knows what they weigh, or if they are 999 or 90%.

I'd have thought the problem with sovs is the fact that they are just plain ugly.Other than what they are made of I don't think they have much going for them.
The thing is when Liz eventually unwelds herself from her throne the sov will become infinitely ugly due to her jug eared moron of a son taking over.
What does KISS mean btw?
I was about to google it but the thought of Gene Simmons staring back at me,reminding me how I look, upon waking up after an evening spent in the company of Mr Jack Daniels made me err on the side of caution.

On a side note, have you noticed who thanked you? I thought he made his "outtathere" post, http://goldismoney2.com/showthread.php?4871-So-long-guys . I guess it falls into the "What do you expect?" catagory.
