What do you carry ?

mine is a gerber mini paraframe. i like the metal handle because it gives a more solid feel to the knife than a plastic composite. inexpensive, lightweight and seems to get the job done.

Daily work knife is an Eye Brand Trapper with chipped stag handles. I use the pointy blade for everything, but the blunt blade is for flesh only, and I keep it sharp enough to shave my arm, if not my face. Solingen Steel, takes and holds an edge wonderfully. I carry it in a handmade leather open top scabbard on my belt, I don't like it in my pocket as dimes are always getting stuck between the blades and over time it warps them.

My dress knife is a Jess Horn designed Spyderco half serrated, polymer scales, framelock. VERY thin, VERY light. No room for dimes. The blade is AUS 8, and it's still wearing the factory sharpening after a dozen years. I rarely use it, but I've used it quite a bit over that length of time, and it's still quite sharp. I haven't used the serrated part of the blade yet.

My Spyderco is exactly the same as the second from the top on the right. I recieved it as a groomsman's gift from my Brother in Law. I consider it to have been a trade for my sister, maybe the best trade I've ever made.

This is my current Eye Brand. I've also had yellow delrin and stag handled models of the same.

Nice little spyderco. I gotta admit, my daily pocket carry is a little chinee with plastic handle and a rebel sticker design on the sides. Paid two bucks for it at a flea market. Hey... quit laughin'.

I do have a nice Buck I use for going out in the field or camping, etc. Makes a nice steak knife. Steel handle with polymer padding, well balanced and flips out with the wrist like a fine switchblade... gave my last switchblade to my cousin. The Buck is stamped with the shape of Idaho, and Buck USA. Only other thing on it is the number 279 stamped. I got it at a cancer fund auction several years ago. Won another buck that night too. Traditional brass bolsters and wood.

Daily carry is a small, sharp Case penknife. With CCW I can carry anything I'm able to conceal, so I'll probably get a larger tactical folder at some point.

Mine is an old style Leatherman Wave and a Kershaw Mini Cyclone. I never understood why Kershaw discontinued the Cyclone and Mini Cyclone, they are very nice knives.

I've bought a lot of Spydercos over the years. I change my daily carry with them every now and then but 98% of the time the same favorites get carried. I always carry a Spyderco G-10 Harpy in my left pocket. (I'm right handed.) It's a hawkbill style of knife so it is outstanding for anything like rope or water hoses. And it would be formidable in a self defense role. My right front pocket varies a bit. Most of the time it is a surprisingly nice Native. The version with the FRN handles. The version that Wal-Mart was selling for a while for $38.xx. What an amazing deal. Great steel, decent design, inexpensive, so I feel like I can use if for anything without cringing. My other two favorites for the right pocket are a Calypso Jr. Ltwt and a Caly-3 with G-10. The Ltwt is _really_ lightweight and still VG-10 steel. The Caly-3 with G-10 is a more substantial knife. Very high quality. I usually carry it as a dress knife. I'm not pulling it out for some of the things the Wal-Mart Native does!

The best Spydero has been the same for a long time. The fully serrated Military. I have carried it now and then but it is really too big for all the time daily carry. So I usually keep it in the side pocket of my small bug out bag. It fully deserves its nickname: the pocket chainsaw.

(Comments in the video regarding the lock-bar are to be discounted. It really isn't any problem at all.)

This is the finest folding knife I've ever carried. A little too big for EDC, but I can't seem to leave it at home.

I use a Kershaw Speedsafe. I had for a couple years now, quite sturdy and stays plenty sharp. I used to have Shrade when I was working good all around knife and not expensive. I too am old.

I used to collect all the expensive knives, from Benchmade, Spyderco, Chris Reeve and William Henry. Then, I remembered that all I want to do is cut a few things with the knife. It doesn't need to be a work of art and worth three days wages.

Now, my favorite little knife is a CRKT Elishewitz E-Lock Starlight and it's everything that I like in a knife. It's very lightweight, tough, lots of blade to handle length, good pocket clip, for low pocket carry, good AUS8 blade steel. It's a perfect little knife. The only problem with them is that CRKT doesn't manufacure them, anymore. But, they're still available for sale on E-Bay. I like the plain edge ones, best.

I can understand your thought's but sometimes you just have to treat yourself. I don't have a collection but I always try to buy something with some quality built into it. Better to buy one that will last than 20 that will only work once.

Rapala 6" Fish-n-filet... old school with the wooden handle. If that can't get it done the chainsaw or the sledge will.

Agreed! Quality has to be a primary consideration. No item is really a bargain, if you're spending your hard earned cash on a piece of junk. This Starlight is as tough as any Benchmade or Spyderco knife I've ever owned, but way less expensive. It's a true bargain, at the current prices and that's one of the reasons I like them so much. As a matter of fact, I liked my first one so much that I ended up buying a couple more, just to make sure I had another, if I lost my EDC.

They (Thanks Buttons) have a habit of doing that, lately. Just as an aside. My brother has a little CRKT M-16, that I gave to him 10 or 12 years ago, that he still carries and uses, everyday. It's a little beat up, but still very functional and useful. Now, his son carries and uses the same model.

A Victorinox SAK tends to be more useful than anything I've carried. I use to always carry a nice lockblade to straight knife, but I've found I can do much more with a Swiss Army Knife.

Spyderco Endura. Latest generation that has metal clip that can be moved to either end/either side.

I have two......one set up for left pocket carry so I can also carry a kel-tec 3AT in right pocket......the other is set up for right pocket carry - IF I have to go places the gun cannot go (like my kids school, Canada, etc.).

Being able to set the metal clip for left pocket carry while pistol in right pocket is a very nice feature.

I do not think you can beat the Spyderco Endura for men and Delica for women....this is what I/wife have carried for nearly 20 years.

My EDC blade is a Kershaw 1760 or a S&W M&P (assisted opening) with a tanto blade. The S&W is a bit heavy though.

CRKT (Columbia River Knife & Tool) myself. A M21 Aluminium handled folder. Satisfying to see that it's actually gone up in price since I bought it.

Same experience here. I was "into knives" at some point and carried all kinds of fancy knives - Sebenzas (both large and small), Emerson Commander, Strider SNG and SMF, even some custom pieces, some of which I still own (a couple of David Mosier knives that are just too awesome to part with). However, every time I kept coming back to my trusted CRKT M16 that I've had for about 10 years now, and it's in my back pocket as I type this. Yes, it's not as smooth as others, and it may not be as sturdy, but for my every day needs, it's perfect in almost every way and it's easy to conceal with any type of wardrobe - be that jeans, dress pants or workout shorts. Try carrying the Strider SMF in a back pocket of wool slacks and see how ridiculous it looks. :)

I've got a nice benchmade I picked up a year or two back. Can open it with a flick of the wrist. Sturdy, durable and nice looking.

I carry the smallest swiss army knife they make. It has the blade, the file/screwdriver, scissors, plastic toothpick and tweezers. Had it for probably 20 years?
