    Hrmmm it doesnt seem to have the official hallmarks of british sterling. This is supposedly a mug from the 1800s and probably from britain. likely plated?

    This website is invaluable - www.925-1000.com for hallmarks.

    It looks to me that the mark says "EP" which means electroplated.

    Thanks mate, I found the hallmark and it is indeed plate. Still on the lookout for a sterling mug. Why drink any other way?
