I have found the fastest and easiest and cheapest way to get rid of malware is go to all programs from the bottom left corner button then scroll down to accessories then scroll down to system tools click on it then click on system restore. It will load a screen that will set your computer back one day and click on it and it will shut the computer down and restart as of yesterdays date before the malware hit you and it will be gone immediately after reloading.

Sometimes that works, but in my case, it didn't. I moved over to Google chrome and it may take some getting used to. I checked with the "smarter" computer users in my family, not one was using Windows anymore, they had all switched to Linux, Firefox, or Chrome.

For you guys touting your antivirus programs like malwarebytes: be warned that every one of them has trojans and viruses that it cannot detect. So if you are using one or even more than one, there is a good chance you have spyware on your machine and you don't even know it. Often NONE of the free ones out there will be able to detect a tricky virus. I know this from personal experience.

Beef up the puter hardware, load up Linux and run Windoze inside a virtual machine for those apps that are only available on windoze or those sites that only work with IE. That way it is contained and easy to deal with.

Chrome is Firefox with a pretty front end. Opera is totally different code... less than 1% of the web uses it so no one attacks it + it is way more secure than IE + faster + just better when you get to know it.

Very few in my experience but yes there are some very badly coded sites out there, some specifically written for IE. JS mineset was a complete dogs breakfast, it is better now... WC3 Validator. Anyway, that is no reason not to use a WC3 compliant browser, the more people use standards complaint browsers the more programmers have to use the standards. Writing for that mongrel bit of junk IE is a bad habit that needs to be broken

After all the only reason the web works is standards!
