The iconic American motorcycle brand, Harley-Davidson, has announced plans to build an assembly plant in India.

Harley-Davidson, the iconic American motorcycle brand with a cult-like following, has announced it has chosen to build its second assembly plant ever outside the United States in India.

The "complete knock down" plant or CKD is expected to be up and running in the northern Indian state of Haryana in first half of 2011. Parts made in America will be put together for the Indian market in Haryana.

"What we are doing is made in USA, assembled in India, which will have a positive job effect back home which is why we are driving this investment as quickly as we are," Anoop Prakash managing director for Harley Davidson India told CNN.

Not a few proponents of (increased) margin requirement policy see margin requirements as signals of the Federal Reserve System's resolve to prevent bubbles in stock prices from affecting the U.S. economy, believing that the announcement effects of increased margin requirements will tend to stabilize the stock market -- ie reduce volatility.

In short, today's announcement of INCREASED MARGIN REQUIREMENTS is the government's testament or recognition that metals are in the midst of a secular bull market. The governement's intent is to prevent a bubble being created by unbridled acceleration in commodity prices. In essence the measure is to nurture continued price growth without the danger of IRRATIONAL EXUBERANCE, which may ultimately lead to a Bubble-like volatility.

The intitial impact of INCREASED MARGIN REQUIREMENTS is for lower prices as over extended investors sell some of their postions to conform. However, prices usually very soon recover to contine the trend just prior to the announcement. Actually, it is a godsend for new investors to initiate positions in metals.

A valid analogy to INCREASED MARGIN REQUIREMENTS for metal Futures is very much like a Highway Speed Limit being lowered from 80mph to only 60mph...traffic slows but continues with less accidents or crashes.
