    Default Freebee "street" prospecting

looksee what I found next to the garbage on the street corner tonight...

there was mouse poop in the glass bowl... and the base was black as soot...

base weighs about as much as 3 10 ounce bars...

    Amazing what people throw away...

uh... talked to somebody who told me that the glass may even be worth more than the base... 20s or 30s Art Deco...

Very cool Art Deco compote dish. Looks French, could be Etling, Verlys or if you're lucky, Rene Lalique. Look close on the glass for a signature or mark. Like most of these pieces, the base is most likely plated, not sterling, but looks great with the glass. Great find!

I thought it was plated, but the "bands" are soft enough to re-shape with your fingers (were a bit bent, straightened them out)... so, looks like "massif" so far... gonna have it checked by a lalique specialist in town... if not lalique, will most likely know...

    i'll keep y'all posted...

funny xmas present... for this "dumpster diver"...

edit - sure does look similar to Etling:
