Question Good price for 90% face?

I saw some bags of $20 face listed for sale at $420 including all shipping and tax charges.

Is this a good price? 21 x face value is close to spot in my calculation and so thought I would buy a few of these.

I bought two rolls of 50 mercury dimes for a total of 100 dimes of 90% silver. I paid $200 for that. I hope that helps?

A good price is $20x face shipped. An "ok" price is $21x face shipped.

junk silver is still generally selling at a slight discount.

I was browsing in a coin shop on 12-17-2010. This coin shop is one of the busiest in the tri-state region. Anyhow, the owner said he was buying at 19 1/2 face.

Thanks for the input and the PM's. Today is a little busy, but I'll catch up with you all tomorrow and maybe I can make a deal with one or two of you for some good silver at nice prices. I really would like to support other gold/silver bugs.

Right now it is at about x21 for spot. You shouldn't pay more than spot and really shouldn't even pay that. The poster that mentioned 19 1/2 % is about right. In fact that's pretty good from where I sit. The best shop in my area is paying sub 19. So generally I'll get about 90% of spot on my 90% if you follow.

Here is a buy list from an online dealer. This is subject to their changing it but gives you a glimpse of the real values of what you have. Of course you might find a better deal somewhere else but this gives you some idea of the hierarchy of things. Notice they pay above spot on most things except for 90% which is quite a bit below spot.

American Silver Eagles (Uncirculated) Spot +$1.70
2010 American Silver Eagles (Uncirculated) Spot +$1.70
90% Silver US Coins Spot -$.85 per Ounce
40% Silver US Kennedys Spot -$1.75 Per Ounce

    Canadian Silver Maples Spot +$1.40
    Austrian Silver Philharmonics Spot +1.20
    Mexican Silver Libertads Spot +$1.00
    1 oz .999 Silver Rounds Spot +$.10
    1 oz .999 Silver Bars Spot +$.10
1 oz Engelhard Silver Bars & Rounds Spot +$.60
    2 oz .999 Silver Rounds Spot +$.10
5 oz .999 Silver Bars Spot
10 oz Silver Bars Spot -$.05
    100 oz .999 Silver Bars Spot -$.20
