Always best to check local ordinances before planning on having chickens. In my town, your property must be at least one acre, and poultry must be situated not closer than 200 feet from any neighboring property. I think the law came into being during the bird flu scares. It effectively rules out having chickens for nearly everyone in town.
Looks like a nice fixer upper. Those laws were made because they don't like people eating their own fresh chicken products. They want everyone dependent on what the FDA says is edible.
the major city close to where i live the ordinance on chickens is max 6 and no roosters fwiw
I'll take my chances on renting in Vietnam or Cuba before I buy a shack in the middle of some banana republic...
If the U.S. wasn't quickly becoming a totalitarian police state I'd own a number of properties down there because some of the prices are astounding. Looks like a great opportunity for a person or family to start something if they've been lucky enough not to have to go into debt for it.
