Question State of the Union Address

What will you be watching instead? Any good movies on?

I think it is either SEIU or UAW....

I'm waiting for Obama (Constitutional Law Scholar) to point out the incorrect ruling by the Illinois State Appeals court on Rahm's residency - no doubt it is because of Alito or perhaps Ms. Palin.

I'll be on here, or making a snack. If the wife unit's not here the teevee ain't on, the only reason I buy the stupid things is otherwise she would talk to me nonstop.

Good question. I have some DVD's set aside for such an emergency. Don't need to puke all over the carpet again.

He is hitting the hot buttons (don't spend more than you have), cuts in spending (I think I heard him say savings, not spending but maybe I dont hear so goodly anymore). Unfortunately I have seen decades of politicians saying what we want to hear (tickling our ears) and doing nothing of substance to back up their words. I would have to see years of walking the tallk before i will believe any politician again.

Senate Democratic Leaders Introduce Repeal Of 1099 Reporting Requirement

By Corey Boles, Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- Senate Democratic leaders introduced legislation Tuesday that would repeal an unpopular tax reporting requirement on small businesses passed as part of last year's health-care law.

The so-called 1099 provision requires small business owners to report to the Internal Revenue Service virtually every business transaction they are involved in. Its goal was to increase the amount of taxes paid by business.

The estimated $19 billion the measure would raise was to be used to pay for part of the sweeping health-care law.

But small business owners loudly objected to the requirement, saying the burdens it placed on them far outweighed any benefit to the Treasury.

Lawmakers of both parties agreed, and the legislation introduced Tuesday is the latest of several efforts to repeal the measure. The problem is that Democrats and Republicans have been unable to agree on how to replace the lost revenue repealing the provision would result in.

Tuesday's statement introducing the legislation by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D., Mt.) made no mention of how the lawmakers would seek to replace the revenue.

The sad thing is there will be people telling me tomorrow about what was in the speech. I guess the Kool Aid has not worn off in some people.

All you have to do is program it onto the teleprompter screen and he will say it.
The US Government was designed to prevent people from killing and stealing our property.

But today, the government kills and takes our property.

I was listening to this while doing some other work, including the Republocrats response. For the record, I do not support either "party." My immediate response is:
    1. Energy policy? Clean energy is a must, but is on the slow track, but I will give Obama credit for moving this forward as needed.

    2. As always, congress critters divided down the isle, half cheer, half sit on their hands depending on what is said. It would be the same if the other party was speaking. What a bunch of paid-for stiffs.

    3. "Bring our troops home." Any decade now please, as enough soldiers and innocent people have died for oil thanks to the Bush administration and its illegal wars.

    4. I wish I had a teleprompter, it would come in handy the the next time I have to make a presentation.

    5. Obama talks a good game, but the proof is lacking. "Hope and Change" has turned into "Chuck and Duck." Send you tax refund to GM, Chrysler, Goldman Sacks, Fannie/Freddie etc..

    6. I want to sit in that big, comfy chair that Bulldog Biden was sitting in while looking like a tough guy in the background.

    7. Democraps vs. Republocrats...no win situation no matter how you slice it.

There was another recent thread that said Ron Paul and Ralph Nader were joining forces (potentially). Throw Dennis Kucinich into the mix and we have something...a 3-headed monster that actually gives a dang. We can only hope.

I watched a movie called "Pathfinder". Wasn't bad. Then watched the Ohio State v Purdue. That sucked.

Barry spoke? The only 2 words I care to hear from him is "I resign". Until that point, he is just another paper hanging son of a bitch.

Who estimated that 19 billion would be lost if this is repealed? Dammit to hell, unless a business is evading taxes, the profit of all his transactions are added up and shown on the business income tax forms that are already being filed. What kind of idiots do we have running this country? Bunch of boneheads!
