All this poppycock about Iodine-you can be sheeple, and buy all you can-however i have posted many articles and the Defense Dept training I received clearly states Iodine does not protect the body from radiation and its effects-it only protects the thyroid gland.Take this:
Following a radiological or nuclear event, radioactive iodine may be released into the air and then breathed into the lungs of any being breathing that air. Radioactive iodine may also contaminate the local food supply and get into the body through food or drink. In the case of internal contamination with radioactive iodine, the thyroid gland quickly absorbs this chemical. Radioactive iodine absorbed by the thyroid can then injure the gland. Now class-what good is a healthy thyroid gland when your lungs and internal organs are sluffing off billions of dead cells a second (from the ingested radiation)-your thyroid gland will be very healthy looking in the casket.There is no protection against the absorbed or directed gammas , only protection is 3 ft of dirt or lead shielding in shelter so as not to be exposed! Agree that antioxidants ACE, glutathione, etc. are very important. However, radioactive iodine does accumulate in other body tissues, particularly endocrine tissues such as testes and ovaries. This has been proven many times over when patients take radioactive iodine for medical testing...they can see exactly where the stuff accumulates.

Yes, iodine is only part of the threat.
