so im over there choppin it up in the ATB thread and i go to check it out this morning and im banned again for i dont how many times now. this time for posting the auction number for the ebay auction, it wasnt a direct link.

i can understand getting spanked for posting links, but im just trying to help the other member out that couldnt find the listing.

The extreme censorship at kitco is far more disturbing.

I posted a source link to www.worldglobaltruth.tk and in my signature (allowed on kitco, here it's not so I removed it but I was politely told so), the link was removed and I was told that is was highly inappropriate and an implied threat was made (and never to post the link, nor was any questioning of the moderator or public awareness allowed). It progressively got worse... so in the end I contacted the then Supermod and had no response. I continued to send messages to the Supermod to explain Kitco and ynot2k behaviour... still no response... another message of insistence then the Supermod resigns. I don't know if there was a connection but the whole thing was very strange.

I've had other run ins and so have many many others... the private messages by members who observe the censorship is as startling as their experience. This has seen many good people leave their forum. So far GIM has been pretty good. Less people but it appears to be growing... I think that the only being able to join on 1 day per month creates this situation. Perhaps this will be reviewed and an alternative ie wait time etc. developed....

As for the ebay thing... they have their rules.... perhaps you should have sent it via private message.

So silver buck, your GG... it figures. You need to get out and experience the real world. Also I hope you'd have the decency on the Japan thread to make an apology, especially with the message from unca walt.

as for links, we gave that up long ago also, as people would play back and forth, is this one ok, no, then this one must be ok, yep, is this one ok, nope.........on and on and on.

so it is clear now, no links in sigs period.

not to mention we were getting farmed ...........

I'd just like to add that registration to GIM has been open continuously for a full year now.

It may take a day or so to get through but there is a continuous flow of new members, several every day.

And we get people all the time joining our site just to farm it for members at their own site. That's the main reason why we don't allow links in signatures anymore. Any link in a signature is advertising, whether it's for a website, a philosophy, or a pet conspiracy, or even just a "really good cause" as some have suggested should be allowed an exception to the rule. It's all advertising and farming our fields. Some folks join just to make posts like, "What do you think of this site?" which is pretty obvious as well.

We would like our discussion forum to be a DISCUSSION forum where people can discuss, debate, and inform. We're not here to grow other sites or provide a billboard for free advertising.

Anyway, registration is open.

agree with the OP. kitco mods SUCK. once you are on their hit list they will manufacture a reason to ban you. that POS yknot2k is their lead dog.

Kitco's forum belongs to Kitco and they (of course) are free to have their own rules and run it how they see fit.

Just like any other forum on the Internet.

One hopes people will gather at forums where they like, appreciate, and respect how the forum is managed.

We are thankful there are people who like it here.

At the same time, we have never really been big on beating up on people who are not here to defend themselves, and taking potshots at Kitco mods doesn't really add much to the body of knowledge here so, now that we've had our rant, how about we go about our (other) business?

In other words, let's like what we like here instead of focusing on what we didn't like at the other places we've been.

We formed GIM because of similar behavior by the mods on another forum. We've built our community here on what we'd like to see in a forum rather than dwelling on what we didn't like at the old one.

As Torus likes to say, "We're all here (on this planet) doing God's work; some of us as bad examples."

When the Kitco mods don't like a posting, they'll take down the entire thread. It's happened to me before, and they just took down two more threads in the restricted area last night. My posts along with them. Nothing derogatory, no rules broken, or even terribly controversial: It was about the MSM getting caught cooking the news again:

At least half of us wouldn't survive over there without infractions. The mods are anal as TSA cops with NO sense of humor and no understanding of sarcasm. There is a new one on the beat named "Cajus" - what an azzhole. After 4 infractions in 3 years, I rarely post over there. Most of their threads are bullshat anyway.
