    Default I am Leaving

Did alot of leaving or raking leaves as some people call it the last few days around the yard. I do the front in the fall so my neighbors don't hate me but I leave the back for the spring. Anyone else do the same?

I have woods on 3 sides, so I leaf with a Stihl 420 Magnum backpack blower. This thing might be God.

Leaves, acorns, shell casings empty heineken bottles etc all go's out into the woods.~

I still go the rake route my man. I have woods in the back of me and I set up a nice burm of leaves along the whole run.

So, also here's the joke "Eats, Shoots & Leaves" to bring a laugh this Sunday morning:

    "Eats Shoots And Leaves

A panda walks into a cafe'. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air.

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a Panda," he says, at the door. "Look it up!"

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

    "P a n d a. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

(Note to Cpthnsolo -- I agree, "Eats, Shoots & Leaves" is a must for grammarians everywhere and has a place of honor in my office! )

My mother used to "scoop" snow in the winter in rural Illinois. A friend from Rhode Island said that a water fountain was a "bubbler" and that a milk shake was a "cabinet." Isn't our language grand!

I'm always in continual motion raking leaves, even going unto the roof to blow them off with my Black&Decker, 200+m.p.h. blower. Maintain the grounds throughout the year, never ending, but enjoy it very much. Always make sure that the rear is as clean as the front portion. Our home faces the South, as the leaves on the North wall always fall first, prior to the leaves on the South wall. This year has been very unusual, in that the trees are still somewhat full, never seen that in many, many years. I'll probably be raking into next spring, maybe further. The leaves are usually gathered, and trees cleaned by early to mid November. There is usually quite a load by the end of October, which was not so this year. Last year we received an abundance of acorns, really dislike that task. However, this only appears every five years, or there about. We get at least four good sized 30 gallon bags of those acorns. The recycle people dislike hefting those bags into the trucks. I do assist them though. You know those bags are extremely heavy. Has anyone noticed the late falling of the leaves this year, and can anyone equate this in any certain sense?

Hey synoptic12, I haven't had any acorns this year and yes the trees are mostly full. The soil is so saturated that life can hang on a little longer. I will be leaving starting this weekend though just to keep things tidy. I have about an acre with some good sized oaks. The front is all evergreens but leaves from the numerous amount of oaks in our area make their way to my house. So next week I'm leaving for good.

I have woods on 3 sides so I blast them out far enough so that they won't blow back in.

I have a hopped up backpack Stihl so I has to be careful or I remove sod and shrubbery.

Whoever built this thing before I bought it used was bored or insane, Earplugs required!

I have woods behind me with a gentle slope down. Makes for an easy spread of the leaves. In the front I bag them for recycle. I only use rakes for leaving as it is more envirnmentaly friendly.

Forget paper money, it's time for the Leaf Standard!

“If," ["the management consultant"] said tersely, “we could for a moment move on to the subject of fiscal policy. . .”

“Fiscal policy!" whooped Ford Prefect. “Fiscal policy!"

The management consultant gave him a look that only a lungfish could have copied.
“Fiscal policy. . .” he repeated, “that is what I said.”

“How can you have money,” demanded Ford, “if none of you actually produces anything? It doesn't grow on trees you know.”

“If you would allow me to continue.. .”

    Ford nodded dejectedly.

“Thank you. Since we decided a few weeks ago to adopt the leaf as legal tender, we have, of course, all become immensely rich.”

Ford stared in disbelief at the crowd who were murmuring appreciatively at this and greedily fingering the wads of leaves with which their track suits were stuffed.

“But we have also,” continued the management consultant, “run into a small inflation problem on account of the high level of leaf availability, which means that, I gather, the current going rate has something like three deciduous forests buying one ship’s peanut."
Murmurs of alarm came from the crowd. The management consultant waved them down.

“So in order to obviate this problem,” he continued, “and effectively revalue the leaf, we are about to embark on a massive defoliation campaign, and. . .er, burn down all the forests. I think you'll all agree that's a sensible move under the circumstances."

The crowd seemed a little uncertain about this for a second or two until someone pointed out how much this would increase the value of the leaves in their pockets whereupon they let out whoops of delight and gave the management consultant a standing ovation. The accountants among them looked forward to a profitable autumn aloft and it got an appreciative round from the crowd.

Will Coco freeze her eggs on third season of ‘Ice Loves Coco’?

    By Diana Falzone

    Published October 29, 2012

    FoxNews.com

Coco has stood by her man, rapper and actor Ice-T, for over a decade, but now with the debut of her Licious line at New York’s Fashion Week, a new business venture, Club Spartacus, and the lead role in “Peepshow” in Las Vegas, the blonde glamour model and entrepreneur is doing just fine all by herself.

The 33-year-old pin-up talked to FOX411 about the her recent career success, and how it’s impacting her desire to have a little mini-Coco (or mini-T) running around.

“There’s pressure from the world (to have a baby); pressure from my family and friends. Give a woman some air to breathe because every time I go back home they’re like, ‘Okay Coco, when are you going to do this?’” Coco told us. “There’s so much good stuff happening in my life. Do I really to say screw it, let’s have a baby right now and then put everything on hold? No, I still feel like I’m young. Let’s do everything I want to do and then have the baby.”

And although the reality star is in no rush to become a mom, she is thinking ahead.

“Maybe I should freeze my eggs. I did a little research. Alright, this is kind of interesting because when I am in my forties that would be a great thing to do but I’m still young. Maybe this is not the option for me. I’m still back and forth with the idea,” she said.

Luckily the celebrity wife has a patient, supportive hubby.

“Since he (Ice-T) has children already, he’s not forcing me to have them anytime soon,” she said.

Which allows Coco to pursue her lifelong dream of being a Vegas showgirl. She will be replacing an expecting Holly Madison in the long-running revue ‘Peepshow’ this coming December.

“I know personally my whole background has been dance. Since I’ve been, 2, 3, 4 years old I started jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop. I did it all! It’s so crazy to say, amongst your classmates when you’re dancing you’re talking about making it to Vegas,” she said. “What you’ve seen recently at “Peepshow” won’t be the same. I heard Holly was not a trained dancer, so I’m going to take that spot.”

It’s just the latest step in Coco’s transition from the eye-catching woman behind her man to the woman in the spotlight.

“I was the model behind Ice when we walked down the red carpet because I didn’t want to talk,” she said. “People thought I didn’t have a voice. Until recently I do.”

I know a 50 year old lady looks way younger than her...

Guys, woke up this AM with snow on the leaves and snow still coming down. Temperature is hovering right around the freezing mark and it looks like it'll snow for a while. No leaving for me today.

I was hoping mine would end up in the yard across the street. But when I saw my next door neighbor raking her leaves I figured I shouldn't be the bad guy. Big azz Maple and it's always the last to drop. Best to get them before snow falls. They don't disappear over the winter. Just get heavy and wet.

Down New Jersey yesterday and everyone was leaving. Right by the side of the road. Huge piles. The townships down there must have one heck of a leaf sucker.

I decided to stop being hated by the neighbors and test fired up my wet dry vac leaf sucking and mulching attachment I bought last year. I let the leaves go where they may normally, so I am hated.

It was list price $99, on special sale last year, I ended up paying $14.95 out the door after all the discounts I tricked Lowes out of. It replaces the top end on a shop-vac brand wet dry vac and has a huge black hose with handle and a scoop. You can rake into the scoop or vacuum the leaves. It mulches them up and does little sticks and stuff too.

The problem is I don't have a shop-vac brand wet dry vac, I have a Rigid that I bought at Homeless Depot for $19 on a special sale. Long story short, after some screwing around, I got it to fit. Man it was great, cruising around vacuuming the lawn. Only draw back was I had to empty it fairly quickly when I hit a big pile of leaves.

I enjoyed getting the leaves up so much I went next door and vacuumed up my leaves that blew in his yard. My son thought I was insane.

gringott, I like you, but there is nothing that bothers me more than a man who is unwilling when it come's to maintaining the leaves on his property. I'm not even talking about neighbors here gringott, I don't like it anywhere just driving down the road. Can't you get your son to do it at least?

andial, re-read. I vacuumed my lawn and my neighbor's too.

I don't even vacuum my living room.

Here is a picture of the "thing" I bought.

Like I said, $14 and change. I hooked it up to this from Homeless depot, that I got on sale about two years ago for $19.

It worked great. I am thinking of putting some casters on a cheap plastic trash can I have and making a plywood interface so I don't have to empty it. Just suck them up, remove the mulcher, and put by the curb.

I am reformed. I am considering spending an hour a day cleaning up any neighbor's yards that need a general tidying up.

It is my way of paying back for my past mistakes and redistributing my great luck in getting that mulcher for $14 and change.
