That was easy... I ordered one, but I may have a friend buy another for me this Friday if they're still up. Two of the people that I had buy coins for me for the last one said they wouldn't do it again as each of them had to drive to their UPS center last time. Meh, two sets of 'P' pucks is enough I suppose...

Well the US Mint is at it again. I just order the Yellerstoner 5 mins ago. Order Status: Your order request has been suspended.
However below it reads Yellowstone 1 279.95 1 unit backordered. Expect to ship on 06/01/2011.

You can't order these things early so it kinda silly that they even state it in the instructions. They don't activate the ordering box on the web page until 12 noon. Before that it shows the item but no qty box. I was on the pg at 11:55 AM and there was no way to order early (above reason). At 12:05 PM, a slow page refresh showed a qty box.

So, going from 37479xxx to 37490xxx possibly means...

It would be nice if the Mint just kept an updated number on the Yellowstone coin web page.

I think the first 3 numbers of the orders may be a code system for the ATBs.
I base this on order numbers for the Hot Springs a few weeks ago.

I never thought the Hot Springs design was all that appealing, nor is the park itself, compared to Yellowstone or Yosemite.

Those two are national icons. When I graduated early from high school and went cross-country at 17, guess where I went? Yellowstone and Yosemite.

Hot Springs? Never heard of it.

Beautiful place in Arkansas. Hot Springs has an old time feel to it and you are able to fill your bottles with the water. Not to mention the lakes and rivers surrounding it, the Ozarks, Crater of Diamonds, Arkasas has more to offer than some other states, and Im from Illinois.

some folk are saying that the HOT SPRINGS crimped lettering as shown in my coin a few pages back, as well as the faded impression on the QUARTER on the face, is a mint error that occurs in many of the coins minted. I was upset it would lessen the value of my coin dramatically, does anyone have anyexamples as to how this might be a good thing?>

For what it's worth - accidently placed 2 orders 10 mins apart and the orders were 1660 numbers a part, selling at a pretty good clip I would say (less than an hour into it). Fortunately was able to cancel one of them so as not to go over HH limit. 37483X

Not dissing Arkansas or Hot Springs at all, you are right it is a great state. I'm just saying that the collector interest for Yellowstone is likely much, much greater.

Ya. They have used the term backordered, I guess because they are not ready yet. Expected ship date - 6/2.

What do you suppose the mints costs are for these overpriced ATB's with ag down $15?. Do ya spose they might have $40+ in ag cost alone, just wondering as I contemplate pulling trigger.

Got my Hot Spring P today and I am more than disappointed as this is the worst looking coin I have recieved out of seven ATB sets. There are numerous deep nicks visible on the rim of the hot springs side.

Pre-sales on the bay are 350-400 and coin dealers will pay extra too if you want to sell them yours. So, it doesn't really matter the cost of silver, as there is a demand for these, at least for now -

Already slowing down.....can't wait to see the total sold in 2012. This may be a rerun of the Spouses.

I don't disagree about the possibility of this being similar to the spouses given the premium being charged.

But considering the spot price of silver or 4/28 vs. 5/17, I'm quite surprised it's that close. How many of those 1st day HS orders were cancelled after the drop?

Considering the massive drop in silver over the last month I'm actually surprised that the Yellowstone coin sold so many in the first day. If anything I think 18K+ on the first day bodes well for the series. Who knows what the future holds though. If silver dips back into the twenties the mint may have to drop the price on future 'P' pucks. Let's hope so anyway...

This may be a rerun of the Spouses.
Every single spouse struck after the first four (2008 to present) has increased in value faster than regular 'ol bullion. I sure hope this set turns into a repeat of the spouses .

    So do I, ............. so do I.

Except in spouseland, the early issues had a higher mintage. This is reversed, with the early issues (5) having lower mintages. Like I said, I can't wait to see how many sell in 2012. I'm in for the whole run, so I really, really hope it turns into a spouse story.

Has anyone returned their Hot Springs P for the lines in springs? I was told they keep a thousand back for defective coins that get sent back. I am wondering if anyone else has done this or heard about it.

A spouse story is not likely at all for the bullion releases. For the P's-- to a far lesser degree -- possibly. We will have to see what kind of collector base develops but in any case I think the 2010 bullion issues have much better promise for the numi speculator. It is a little hard to predict what state the mint will be in 10 years down the road especially with the PM market wild card.

My mint order for Yellowstone just went from "backordered" to "in stock and reserved". Also the availability date on the web page went from June 2, 2011 to May 26, 2011. Someone is moving up the action.

Hmmmm, and the First Spouse page says "not found".

I returned mine. It was scratched terribly, both sides. I checked replacement but they issued a refund.

Hot Springs P is sold out. Am not returning it! A couple are listed on the bay at high prices as mint errors - the wavy line and weak strikes on some letters.

    Got in on the Yellowstone.

    Yosemite National Park

Finally, some readers have reported that the US Mint's phone representatives provided a release date of June 7, 2011 for the next numismatic release featuring Yosemite National Park. I have not been able to confirm this date yet, but phone representatives had previously provided an accurate release date for the Yellowstone coin, before the US Mint's official announcement.
