    Default Learning about charts

Does anyone have some recommendations on where to go for some basic understanding of reading the trend charts being posted hereabouts? Outside of getting an Econ degree, is there any useful links out there that could help provide a foundation? Somewhere to start from?

Its great when those in the know share their technical analysis of situations, and bless them for knowing what to look at and why.... but is there anything a newcomer can do to get the ability to at least start to meaningfully digest the information being presented, outside of reading the comments? Where did others start?

reading a few books on the subject...
