    Default Interesting story

On the way home from my niece's daughter's 5th bday party in Dighton, Ma. yesterday, my wife told me that my niece's next door neighbor delayed her moving into her brand new house because someone broke in and stole all the copper wiring> 450 lbs or so.
This is one of the few spots I've seen in our state where houses are selling (around 300K for 1800 square feet) and they actually have phase 2 going up as phase one is sold out.
I was wondering why none of the neighbors saw the thieves as moms are home with the many kids?
For decades my father has been telling stories how even when he was a kid, copper was stolen> he was a builder.
Wait till cu hits 80 an elbow as Dr Leeb predicts.

My bets advice to you Joe is to stop listening to Dr Dweeb. People steal copper because they need quick cash. If you can get copper for free or damn near free and turn around and sell it then thats wwere the money is made.

Not in bullion bars with a 100+ premium. Again Joe...I have a beautiful bridge to sell you

I have always said that it's NOT yet time to sell the bars.
I think by 2013>realistically, the time will be ripe to get a FIVE BAGGER on my 50K!

    Absolutely amazing!!
Must be one hell of a house. I mean with the average amount of copper wire in a home being under 200 lbs.

What's the source of you making stupid comments without knowing what the hell you're talking about? Heredity? Environmental influences?

The info in your link is consistent with Shiny's claim. Note the figures for wiring (195 lbs) vs total copper (439 lbs):

An average single-family home uses 439 pounds of copper.

In an average single-family home, you will find about:

    195 pounds - building wire
151 pounds - plumbing tube, fillings, valves

And my reply was consistent with his condescending, patronizing reply to my post.
If these miserable types here dish it out, they have to see their reflection in the mirror I throw back at them.
Somehow making fun of others as shiny did, makes him feel better and superior about himself.
Maybe go a a Dr. Phil website to vent rather than on a PM website where we give info to help others like mine that illustrates that stealing cu is becoming more and more mainstream.

So, Joe, I guess you should have chosen the STFU option, huh?

You see, I will hypothesize that you were searching for edification of your copper investment mistake (which I feel, like most of your posts are mere blatherskite), you stumbled upon the copper.org figure of a total average of 439#, inflated the figure a smidge (you are prone to embellishment), did the ol' friend of a friend trick to make it personal (another of the flaws you possess) and made a post. You should be embarrassed of yourself, truly.

Somehow making fun of others makes shiny feel better about himself.
He does it post after post and proves that he should STFU to at least keep people guessing if he is truly an ahole.
This berating me takes the guesswork out of it.
Put me on ignore shiny and stop the personal attacks.

Come on Joe. Shiny is right on about 200 lbs of wire. On top of that I don't know of anyone getting melt value for copper, so your $200 figure is way off. They might get $3.50-$4.00 netting you $750-$800 bucks.

On top of that, the article mentions 200 lbs of plumbing?? PVC is pretty much the standard in new houses these days (in my neck of the woods anyway).

Yep, and pressure water pipes are mostly Pex now, a superior product in cold or humid enviornments to copper.

And facts are a sticky thing to get around.
I answered your foolish Pex hypothesis months ago irons. The Chinese, of note, have passed laws to preclude ANY replacement of copper.
I guess the massive law suits of their insulations, esp in Fl. smartened them up.
Copper near record TODAY so it's ironic with these posts.

Nothing personal when the truth is making you look really stupid.
You DEFINITELY should have chosen STFU to keep people guessing how utterly uninformed you are about King Copper.
Stick to gold shiny as you have been so right about the gsr.

Copper is performing exactly as predicted, in relation to the markets.
Very poor mans gold it is.
Poor mans gold is stagnant, comparatively.
