    Received!

Oddly enough the helper that got through first at roughly 12:07 (Order #: 383269xx), still hasn't received the box yet. The tracking number says today is the day though .

Well here is a few for the chart. All were shipped yesterday and arrived today at around 930 (UPS)

    383286xx ordered 10/27/2011 at 12:24
    383310xx ordered 10/27/2011 at 12:38
    383325xx ordered 10/27/2011 at 12:46

The following orders were shipped yesterday via USPS and have not yet arrived:

    383329xx ordered 10/27/2011 at 12:46
    383335xx ordered 10/27/2011 at 12:52

The following were shipped today via USPS and have not yet arrived:

    383348xx ordered 10/27/2011 at 1:00 PM
    383352xx ordered 10/27/2011 at 1:02 PM

Amazing that in 38 minutes there were about 6,600 orders placed, or the equivalent of 173 orders per minute, or about 3 orders per second. I guess i got pretty lucky. I actually placed 3 orders of 2 sets and 4 singles in a matter of 38 minutes with an average connection.

Post 964 is correct as shown.

Remember the song Anticipation. Well it's driving me crazy.

The other thing is the changing shipping dates, Mine is still showing In stock and reserved but the shipping date is missing now.

The mint may be working hard and fast, but it sure takes some time to put out 100k sets, and keep current on their other orders.

I'd volunteer but I don't think the want any extra help. I probably be interesting only shipping my order out and everybody else????????????

Id estimate a minimum of $2,500 and $3,500 on the upper end.

Anyone with experience as to who is easier on grading...PCGS or NGC??? I looked at the NGC pop report for comparable coins and the majority of the coins seem to be getting 70s such as the Uncircs, Bullion and Proof coins

Got my dear John letter yesterday for one of my orders. How long does it take for them to remove your order from the tracking page? Will it stay there indefinitely? And are they hoping that when they send the letter that we'll just hit the cancel button. Just trying to sqeeeeeak out a glimmer of hope is all.

I cancelled an order back in August and the mint is still showing among my orders for tracking. So I think that it will stay there 'til the cows come home or hell freezes over. Whichever comes first.

I hit a snag on my order.

My 5 pack went through and is being shipped.

My moms single pack and my engineers two pack got cancelled.

So I was going to keep the 5 pack sealed, which I still will.

But I also was going to get 2 sets graded, which I can do without and open one to enjoy in hand.

I guess I will try to pick up a set when the prices drop, but I refuse to break open that 5 pack to get them graded.

If anyone is selling an opened set for reasonable money pm me.

Someone started a thread on this subject a while back and while it seemed most agreed PCGS was tougher, or at the very least had that reputation, it seemed in the end that it depended upon which modern line you were talking about. I've compared the NGC vs PCGS grading numbers for the spouse coins and PCGS is clearly much tougher. However someone in that thread posted the numbers for plain 'ol 2010 ASE's and PCGS had given more 70's. Also, someone posted this past month that they sent in 68 2011-W ase's to pcgs and only 5 or 6 came back 70's.

Could someone with active memberships at both please post the grading numbers for the following?
    2011 W ASE
    2011 proof ASE
    2011 bullion ASE

Posting the pop reports on those from both companies would be a big help to many of us I'm sure. Thanks in advance to whomever helps .

Data indicates NGC is easier. Experience says the same.

Ok so I just got the membership at NGC and here are the following pop reports. For the sake of getting a more accurate number the 2011 (S) numbers will be used. These will reflect more closely what the sets should grade like:

    NGC stats:

    2011 (S) (Total graded=237,116) MS69=203,291 MS70=33,825

    86% return as MS69
    14% return as MS70

    2011 W (Uncirculated) (Total graded= 19,497) MS69=8,526 MS70=10,959

    44% return as MS69
    56% return as MS70

    2011 W (Proof) (Total graded= 26,284) MS69=7631 MS70=18589

    29% return as MS69
    71% return as MS70

    PCGS stats:

    2011 (S) (Total graded=33,340) MS69=11,890 MS70=21,440

    36% return as MS69
    64% return as MS70

    2011 W (Uncirculated) (Total graded=14,435) MS69=1,487 MS70=12,948

    10% return as MS69
    90% return as MS70

    2011 W (Proof) (Total graded=11,380) PF69=5,539 PF70=5,783

    49% return as MS69
    51% return as MS70

Important to note that the bullion which was minted at SF was strictly minted for the set and could result in higher quality as opposed to the bulk handling of normal bullion

StatisticaLly it is easier to get a 70 set with PCGS

    ***Coin grading newbie question alert***

    NGC - 2011 S - 0
    NGC - 2011 Wu - 12
    NGC - 2011 Wp - 64

    PCGS - 2011 S - 10
    PCGS - 2011 Wu - 0
    PCGS - 2011 Wp - 58

The above is the discrepancy between coins graded (total) and MS69 & MS70 grades given for each coin from the post I quoted.

So what are those 10 2011 S no grades for PCGS? etc etc etc? Are they crap coins that got no grade? Were they graded lower than MS69 but not mentioned here? Are these skewed because people are only sending in coins they have great confidence will yield a 69 or 70? Without seeing these coins prior to sending in to the grader, to retain the 25th Anniversary Set designation, what can I expect for grades? I'm not "guaranteed" at least a 69 on these right? If this has been discussed elsewhere I apologize.

With the grading companies it seems to be a random occurrence..recently with the 2010 ATB pucks both companies were changing grading policies mid-stream with NGC being the tougher with their "No DMPL" policy. PCGS pulled the "no W 70's" crap with the 06 set because of spotting issues but then reversed when the coins started to flow to NGC.

Pick whatever one you want...both are great companies. I will go with NGC because I like their slabs, have a bunch of empty NGC 20 slab storage boxes, and I won't have to pay extra ($18 per COIN) for Early Release which I think is bogus anyway but better for selling purposes...

I only posted the grades for MS69 and MS70because those are the grades that are obtained the most and are more meaningful in finding out trends. Sort of like eliminating noise. Basically those coins are ones that did not grade 60 or above

    I sent 38 2006 20th Annie sets to NGC in sealed boxes....I rec'd Zero 68's

I remember getting two boxes of 10 graded and returned to me one day apart....The 1st 10 sets had ZERO W MS70's, the next day the next 10 sets had 8 W MS70's....depends who is having a bad day I guess...

I will add that I could not for the life of me see ANY difference in 90% of the 69's and 70's and I consider myself to be pretty good at cherrypicking

Default US Mint Causing Heart Attack

That's what was almost the lead story on tonight's news at 6.

I was checking my email and saw that I had one of those robo emails that the mint sends out.

I opened it up and the first few lines went something like this: "We regret to inform you that due to your purchase is........" That's right about where my eyes stopped reading and my mind went . Darned near scared me to death. I'd like to tell you. Only this time the message was for another mint product that I was buying, and was indicating that it would be shipped on the 18th.

Those boys at the mint had better take more care when sending out a message like that at a time like that. Scared me out of six years of my life that I don't have to spare.

Who do I contact regarding the mental anguish that I was temporarily caused.

1:49PM EST order 3834XXXX tracking number posted at 3:00PM EST.

From another forum. Appears the mint will ship orders until at least 2:00 today.

Geez guys, now the Old Man is thinking of sending his five sets in unopened. The fact that I might be able to pay for it all with a 70 on the reverse proof and the S coin, and that the others might be worth more graded as part of the set seems like the right thing to do.

    Lightbulb NGC Simulation

Hello all, long time lurker (years on the old forum), hoping to make my first post a very useful one.

I was lucky enough to get my limit of 5 of these sets. In trying to decide on whether to grade the coins, I created a monte carlo simulation for the expected value after grading.

The model takes into account historical (20th anniv) and current ebay/retail prices for the individual coins in the set. Obviously some guesswork here, and also there was some guesswork on the % probability of getting a 70 for each coin. However, with the NGC and PCGS population reports above, I feel much more confident now in the model...

So here are the inputs that I used, and the results. I've only done the sim for NGC so far, as this is the service I plan to use.

Input probabilities for getting a 70:
    Bullion (.143)
    Proof (.707)
    Uncirc W (.562)
Rev. Proof (.707) - assumed same as proof
    Uncirc S (.563) - assumed same as uncirc W

Individual coin prices (69/70) These are based on my own research - feel free to suggest changes.
    Bullion: (50/95)
    Proof (70/120)
    Uncirc W (75/100)
    Rev. Proof (300/700)
    Uncirc S (300/700)

Premium for a full set of 70's (over selling individual coins): ~$300 (conservative I think?)

After 10,000 simulations, the average expected value of NGC graded coins is: ~$1395 per set. You will net an average of 0.63 full sets of 70's when submitting 5 sets for grading.

If anyone would like to help me refine the assumptions, I'd be happy to run the sim again.

Hope this is useful. My appreciation for all the great info I've gotten from the forum members on this site.

I should note that ".63 full sets" roughly equates to "63% of the time you will get 1 complete set of 70's."

The rest of the time you will have various 70-graded coins that don't quite match up 5 in a row...

    -------------------->
Edit to further clarify... the 63% is when you submit 5 sets for grading. This is the chance of getting a perfect set out of all your submissions mixed and matched. Chances increase the more sets you submit.

I would gladly pay if we knew half were coming back as 70s, mabye since only 100k coins (hopefully were struck on these dies) we will achive that amount, Im hoping s and w, proofs were not just made on the other dies at end of die life , if they struck all coins on new dies 70s might be higher but then there could be many more 70s than 69s diluting the value of the 70s also, what's a mother to do???

BTW my sets are in hand, holding out for 2k each.

Only variant from the 20th Annie set was that that set had 2 1/2 times more coins minted and thus the value of these 100k 70's should be adjusted accordingly...

I think your price estimate of a 70's set is WAY too conservative and would suggest an eventual price nearing or exceeding $3000 for that set

Plus there would be more difficulty assembling a 5 coin 70 set vs. a 3 coin 70 set especially with a bullion issue thrown in to skew the data (none in the 06 set)

That's a low probability on the bullion SAE. If that's the case, may be difficult to get a 70 on the "25th anniversary" SAE for the bullion coin.

Agree,,,,the bullion will be the beeeeeach of the 70 set.....unless they did a special strike for this set which would be golden!

Should be interesting. Wonder if people are going to have to trade to actually get full sets. Seems like the proof & unc W, the Rev proof & unc S should be interchangeable at least value wise.

    Bullion: (50/95)
    Proof (70/120)

****, i would. No risk of theft in transit. No shipping delay.

It's going to take a good week for my coins to even reach them, then another week to get back, and that's not even factoring in the grading time.
