Thanks for the note Scorp. I saw the ban and was in the dark as to why, and it was a bit unsettling. Now knowing more about what happened, I feel better knowing there are legit reasons. Like when Book was last banned I was confused until you mention in the thread what happened. I think it's only fair to let the rest of the posters know why members they were in conversation with are suddenly on vacation.

Thanks Scorp for explaining. Not Sure is inflammatory and can be somewhat abusive at times. He's also brilliant and although I often find him to be a bit too extreme or pessimistic at times GIM2 is greatly diminished without his presence and alternative perspective. Glad he's only in the penalty box.

This is a community and as such diversity is natural and a positive thing to help foster a learning environment and I commend everyone for their tolerance in working with others even though we don't all agree or empathize with each other at first. This board is as close to a free "society" as I think we can get at this time, so we all need to cooperate and work together to enable it's continued success in spreading positive thoughts and ideas around the globe and hope we can spill that into our home/work/other social environments.

I really enjoy learning here and continuing to grow as a man and board member.

understood, but those that tread in there are pretty much assured of what they are to receive,

and my alternative is to wipe the forum out,

sometimes stuff is reported, other times, it is mods or admin catching things on a drive by shooting,

now you are just empathizing with us - some days, some threads are just more wacko at the time we see them. this is not our full time job but we try to exercise restraint - there are days I feel compelled to knock some posters upside their knoggins - hey foo you are on a public forum act accordingly - but then I remember they have a right to make foos of themselves. It is a judgemet call on when the line has been crossed but some keep pushing the envelope until we can no longer exercise restraint. So be it

Scorpio, if you want to ban me, that's your prerogative, but please don't make a pretense that I actually did anything "wrong" that over a dozen "major offenders" don't do as their overarching "modus operandi" on a daily basis.

Some elements are here - probably on salary - solely to "disrupt" honest discussion. I'm not one of them. I speak straight from my heart, and unfortunately, that goes from my heart like a stake into certain elements' hearts, like a solid oak stake should go into the bosom of a vampire.

I don't believe I've ever made a kindergartener's complaint to a mod for being "offended." Clearly, however, some quite unmanly types have made a concerted effort to declare that their saintly eyes were scorched by me. Oh, the epic irony, that master baiters (I'm sure if I name a few, that, too, would be a "personal attack," however factual and true) call the kettle black, while they wield clumsily the ad hominem blades like weeping children.

So, I am back, with my "attitude," LOL. An "attitude" that speaks what is real, whether anyone likes it or not. It will be interesting to see, going forward, if my case here was a learning experience for all, and the smorgasbord of insults, innuendos, ignominious swipes by certain cliques will be proscribed accordingly.

Oh, and one more thing, I've seen on occasion that we're not supposed to discuss "members unable to defend themselves." I'm puzzled about how these allegations of my "personal attacks" and "accumulated attitude" allowed for me to rebut them, these last 30 days.

When someone with a bloody knife in hand screams that "that man is a killer!," the man of honor will regard such a complaint as empty & frivolous. Not once have I "returned fire" without being targeted myself.

"Anonymous complaints," "star chamber" "forum security" tribunals, and refusal to allow someone to defend themselves before sentence is passed is alien & repugnant to the American spirit, which everyone here claims to value. And no, this isn't an unique phenomenon to GIM - in fact, it's less prevalent here. But at least be consistent in theory & practice - PLEASE.

Its really a matter of perception. You don't see how it "rings true" for one of your (and my) favorite subjects. Its no secret we have opposing views on that subject. Where perception comes in is tolerance of hearing that opposing view without labeling it a government agent.

I thought it would be appropriate to leave you with a holiday assortment of peace offering to go with your complaint.
