Default Got an offer to buy a Winchester 1400 20-gauge shotgun...opinions?

Just wanted to get everyone's opinion on the Winchester 1400. I inquired about a gun lot for sale on a local website and the seller is offering a 1400 for $280. Haven't had a chance to look at the gun yet, but I'm thinking that's a pretty good price for a semi-auto shotgun. I'd like your opinions before I drop the cash on it.

Hi, the 1400 was not a good seller and was discontinued in 1996-97. I think he's high. They made several models the cheapest was the "Ranger". I see them used at around $200 but not selling. Unless you want an auto take a look at the Remington 870 pump. Usually on sale and with rebates at this time of year. Regards, Mike

It's not a bad shotgun, but the price is WAY out of line.

For that price, you could get a nicely outfitted 870. You know, the shotgun by which all other shotguns are judged.

    +1 on the 870

The youth model 20 gauge with mag extension loaded with 6 rounds of #3 buckshot sits in our closet as I type this.

Very effective for around the house...picked it up new for ~$225.
