Someone needs to let this guy know this doesn't work on eBay anymore. $152 shipping is a tad high...

Only bummer is little ebucks. How much would the seller save by doing this?

If he doesn't have a store, he saves **nothing** as eBay now charges for the total cost including shipping where previously it was sales price only. If he does have a store subscription, the changes aren't until June so he would save some money on fees at the expense of our ebucks.

so, I just picked up a nice $10 indian head on ebay while trying to do the new 10% promotion. When purchasing, it never aknowledged that I'd get more than the standard 2%, is that how everyone else sees it?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...253D&viewitem=

Well, even if I don't get it, at $762.50 this coin was just 97.6% of spot with my normal rebates.
If I get all of them, plus the extra 8% and $5 off, we are talking about a really nice $10 indian head for 88.5% of spot! :-)
Now, it doesn't look fake or something, does it?

Not too shabby, may I say. Let's hope that the 8% shows up around 5/25. Keep in mind that if it shows up is still subject to the $500 cap, so $5000 max in spending, even less considering what you've already got since the beginning of March as well as the $5 bonus. That aside, nice snag, congrats

Well I think everybody is shopping with the promised 10% off. This is the best I can find, below spot when counting the %10. I can't afford anything right now (good cause I'm all in): http://cgi.ebay.com/1987-S-W-U-S-Con...item2eb46aeefa
0.24 oz of gold plus the silver dollar = about $395 of metal for $381

*I* don't think so. Maybe a little worn but what do you expect for a coin from 1912?

What's up with these proof sets that usually go below melt? Wonder how long that would last? Seeing that it has been going on for quite a while.

    Default Great Snags and WTF's???

OK you fine folks, WTF is this snagg? I just got it from my coin guy for melt, it was a jewelry piece.

    $150 FRN cash and carry.

Tested it's 90% Gold and from Saudi Arabia 3.4 grams on the scale.
Anybody familiar with these critters? This thing has it all, bad off center strike, and a mushy looking die to begin with.

Thanks Sandro, no wonder I coulden't find it in SA gold. I will email my friend and fill him in, he thought it was arabian.

I have to recharge my scale batteries and check it again, it is a nice looking coin except for the solder. I'll buy more!

When I said it is almost impossible to find sovereigns around here anymore he commented they are around but not for sale. ~

I guess it makes sense, the shops I frequent have not had a sov for sale when I have stopped by since October.

My mother in law has been dividing up her late husband’s coin collect and we got another box today. It had a handful of nice silver certificates and some random coins in it. We took the fiat and a few other things to the coin shop and we picked up a couple Swiss francs! My first old gold! They aren't slabbed, but look very nice with very little wear. We got them for $285 apiece. We also got a couple 1/10 .9999 maple leafs, in mint plastic, for $170 apiece. I thought they were a little pricey, but I noticed they are 20th anniversary privy coins. I can't find mint information on them anywhere - I guess I have something to do tonight.

There were a few civil war tokens in the box too and they are really neat - we are keeping them!

There were a ton of folks selling silver when we were at the shop. Also a few folks selling jewelry. This shop advertises that they will buy any and all sterling - I guess the antique stores will be getting stripped of all silver baubles.

No one else was buying during the 30 minutes we were there....

During the past year that I've been buying, the local pusher's place was full of folks selling (literally, take a number and have a seat) with very few folks (if any) looking to buy. I'd just walk up to the sales counter and get my pick of Silver (and later the other PMs). I haven't been in recently due to being full up myself and with the price of Silver just going up, up, up.

I'll stop in tomorrow to say 'hi' and see how things are going and what Gold may be available for future trade. Last time he had an assortment, it will be interesting to see what may be available now.

Congrats on the first old Gold! I love the Swiss Miss franc coins,

They may be my favorite thing!!!

If they have the L on the left along with the B on the right they are restrikes, just the B odds they are a single strike. Not that it matters, great coins with a nice size and heft.

    They feel like gold!

That is nice to know!!! One is 1935 LB with stars around the edge. The other is a 1947 B with AD LEGEMANNI MCMXXXX (I think, there is a little wear on the edge).

Some coins just hit your preference more than others, for me if there are several choices of old european gold available the Swiss Miss is always my first choice.~

First thing I've done in long time worth considering a great snag, and then only really by virtue of silver's most recent gung-ho charge up San Juan Hill... so, first post in this thread.

Traded out a pistol about 5 or 6 weeks ago for some silver, one I'd been intending to sell anyway. Got 10 oz Ag for the pistol, and a nice visit with a long time GIM buddy. Silver's gone up about $10 since then, but more importantly the GSR has gone down. Will be trading it out next week for Au.

Works out to an excellent deal on both sides. He got a safe queen in tip-top shape for the equivalent of $350, the price (at the time) of one in average condition... probably under $100 actual out-of-pocket, though, considering how long he's been into PM's. By waiting a few weeks I should end up getting another 1/20th oz more of gold than I would have if I'd converted it right away at that time.

Like I said, I think it was a good deal on both ends... at least I hope he still thinks so too.

Thanks for joining this thread you cheery curmudgeon, sounds like a good trade for everyone involved.

As much as all of us here would like to say this is just a boast thread, if somebody was to come from nothing and

read this from end to end they would be 10X smarter than anybody else.

Where else but the GIM great snaggs thread could you find every type of PM you could ever possibly want, along with the perfect directions on how to buy such a treasure for the best possible price?

I myself am always in awe of what is found and shared here!~

I don't know but for awhile the snags on gold at ebay were dry and then captain san francisco decided to slang krugs and phils like HOTCAKES! Best snag because I love the south africans and the 10% posted!!!!!!!!

Bring it. If you're admitting to placing orders with people with 0 feedback then you're as stupid as me anyway.

I mean gee there is a dedicated thread just for counterfeits from Ebay on the 1st or 2nd page. Talk about people being naive.

Granted a new person has to start at 0 sometime but you're still a fool if you're going to be his 1st feedback.

The only thing that I will say is thank God for people like you, so the stupid ones like me (yeah I was that one that you are talking about) never have to pay retail. Please learn more before you speak or even better move along without insulting anybody who actually knows what they are doing. I have to go with jimineez, you are not worth the time to explain if you could not bother to read properly this thread. I promise that I will not respond to any further post/insults from you.

BTW i didn't say you didn't get a good deal i said quote " Its a good deal with those rebates things"

You were the one who even commented about making a risky move and someone to take a jump with you so don't pretend i don't know what I'm talking about.

You're deal was good at the risk you and that so called of buddy of yours took. Ill lmao when you take a risk like that and get burned, Because that's what it is a risk that's why you wanted someone to buy from him as well. And for better choice of words i meant foolish.

I got my trade dollar from Hong Kong today. It looks pretty good but there are a few things off, including the reeded edge and a star. It looked better than the others that were listed. I bought it for the silver content thinking it was like a morgan ($35.) It was a great snaggg for 19.95. I paid for it too fast when it was late and I may have been inebriated, didn't look too closely or see where the seller was from. Coming from who knows what kind of factory, I am leery of touching it with bare hands. I told ebay it was a forgery and they refunded my money. They kind of had to since they deleted his account and the listing (and it was only $20). Only other time I had a prob was with a presale which didn't ship (was warned about it here), and they gave me the $1200.

lmao i wasn't even paying attention in till i saw Hong Kong, Ebay, leery, refunded lol.

I'm actually probably going to get started myself buying silver from ebay but I'm do it right buy only from highfeed back sellers with good prices under spot and in small amounts.

I'll stick with like 1-5 ounces of silver at most. Id be leery myself of purchases over a grand on ebay high feed back or not I'm not a noobie with ebay. Though i know what i ask for is the rare purchases id rather have my peace of mind. You might have to get screwed before you learn as i have with craigslist and unrelated items.

Then again if you're a big baller i can understand taking bigger risk at the bigger profit. But mehhhhhh if you ask me. Regardless though you got it and its real and and was a very good deal. But i still say you're foolish.

Yeah, I've only been a member on ebay since 1999, so I'm still learning. And after never losing a dime on more purchases and sales than I care to share, I'm just trembling each time I make a decision to buy. Go look hard for that big 1 ounce of silver, I'm sure you'll get ahead by saving 50 cents here and there.

You remind me of my 4 year old. I tell him that the way to learn is to listen, you don't learn anything by talking. But then again, I'd rather not share my info on how to safely buy gold and silver at 85% of spot with you anyway.

    Happy easter everyone!

From what little you have posted so far to this website you are clearly a noob to the game and you want to critize those of us who have been buying 10s of thousands of dollars worth of PMs off eBay?

Son we know what we are doing. Zero feedback no problems. Pay with a credit card via Paypal and you have two layers of protection. They screw us over, we get our money back. They end up actually being new to eBay and trying to jump on selling PMs during these all time highs we get huge deals. So continue to be scared to buy from these people, you keep the prices down for the rest of us.

I've been addicted to ebay auctions, to this date every bit of silver i've paid for has been well under spot. (Average 27% under)

    Couple of silver snags today...

Christmas silver bar for $44 + $2 shipping but with the 10% Ebay bucks comes out to about $5 under spot. Seems like not many people have caught on to the 10% and prices have pretty much remained the same making a lot of purchases way under spot

Hell lets hope that Mr Rebates goes through and we're really talking some serious discounts
