Several coincidences in that listing make me say I'll pass. His description talks in the singular of a Kennedy half dollar. When you save the listing to My eBay, it shows a total quantity of 28, each at $308. That's how many halves it would take to break even at spot. Rather unusual that he would have 28 sets of 28 halves each but it is possible I suppose. The single positive feedback from 2005 does strike confidence though....lol. jmo.

Went to one jewelry place that pays about 45% of spot for any scrap sterling. They decided to pass so I've priced everything out at 80% for their sale and if it doesn't go there it's to eBay or here.
Basically lots of small sterling jewelry, a 756 gram sterling platter, and a few tiny 14K gold earrings.
sterling sucks. I'd pay no more than 70% or so of it's estimated silver weight (account for weighted bases). And even then, your margin when selling to a refinery is likely to be tight.

Here's one that's WTF worthy...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1894-RAISED-...item337540c65d
Picked up a roll of 1964 Half's, all in great condition. $210 out the door.
My new favorite local coin/jewelery shop. Sells junk at melt, or a tiny bit under like today, and sells bullion at $1.50 over.
Also buys bullion at $1.50 under, which isn't too bad if your in a pinch.

I have never been to an estate sale. Out of all of the places that I have been looking for silver art bars, I would have never thought about going to estate sales to possibly find PM's of any kind there. A gold 20 Swiss Franc for only $250.00??????????? HOLY COW!!!!!! Those finds are not only "WOW" finds, they are "SUPER DUPER WOW!!!!" finds.Major congrats on those finds at those prices. APMEX is currently selling those for $326.94.
I may have to start whoring for silver art bars at an estate sale if you are getting those types of PM prices there.![]()

ATTENTION!!!!!! Read this very carefully: My gut feeling on silver is just that.......A gut feeling. I have absolutely nothing to back up my gut feeling with.
My gut says........Silver will NOT hit and hold $50 before 2015.
DISCLAIMER: I am not a '70's silver art bar expert. I just try my best to play one on the Internet.
Yes. It's true. I am a silver art bar "hoor" and I am proud of it.

Thank's Silver Art, I started going to them about 6yrs ago, because I found that they are another source to find old sterling items like flatware, and sterling bowls and such..alot of times you can find gold jewelry..but this is the first one I had been too, that I had found a gold coin..it look's like it has been polished alot...but hey, who cares..gold is goldAs far as the 20 Balboa's..even with the markings .925 I don't think he knew what it was, other then a very large foreign coin, that he was getting $25 out of because some guy was dumb enough to pay $25 for it

I think I've tracked down the name of the Hindi goddess depicted on it. Sri Laxmi, and the back reads "Shree," which is another name for her. Haven't found the same coin anywhere yet though.

anybody ever seen one of these before? (I've been lurking here a couple of years). Local jeweler called me and asked me if I wanted it at spot (5oz. and one oz.) the one oz is a round. I suppose the five oz is just a round also. Bank of Mexico box?

Bought this earlier today:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/310399886508
Asked a question about another item and combined shipping... seller replied that listings were a mistake (supposed to be auction) and added this:
"so be upset if u want but i am not letting my coins go for that."
Ugh...eBay drama.![]()
OK I went and did my homework like I should have in the first place....your list shows it at 225, I paid 145 so I'll keep itthanks!
bonedaddy (05-10-2012)
Tinbox (05-10-2012)
I admittedly don't sell on eBay, but I do buy a bit. That response would warrant a negative feedback from me alone.
I used to let mistakes slide, but I'm done with that, I went 5/6 on auctions over a couple days where the seller backed out. I got tired of the runaround and having my funds tied up for days.
Incidentally, I won a peace dollar for a .99 buyout (free shipping, at that). It showed up in the mail a few days later. Some sellers honor their mistakes, some do not. Those that do not, should be punished.
If you accidentally misread a description or add in an extra 0 on your bid & win, eBay will throw a strike on your account if you do not pay. Listing and bidding are binding contracts. I've honored my mistakes in the past, usually being in a hurry and not reading descriptions. If you don't like those rules, don't play the game.
