Nice, hope it works out! Just a few thoughts... First, I bought a set of three bars from another US seller that was shipping from NY. Well, having looked at where my money went and where seller really was it became apparent that he was in Thailand. Which is where your seller is registered. There are several sellers on eBay that sell US silver bars out of NY but are based in Thailand or another far away place. Anyway, I requested refund and cancellation before anything was shipped. Thankfully, everything worked out ok even though seller wasn't very responsive. Who knows if their stuff is real or not. Would hate to deal with returns.
Secondly, Silvertowne had bars at under $30/troy ounce on Friday with credit card as one of the payment options. No eBay bucks of course...

Found this in a box of free junk at a yard sale. I can barely make out "Mexico 925" on the back.

Yup, I'm smelling scam or fakes. Says item location is in NY, but seller registered in Thailand. Negative feedback for bootleg software. If they come, test their purity.

Thanks Gold RushI have a vague memory of seeing the 1 oz round, but couldn't find another in my search even on www.apmex.com.
I must be doing something wrong in my search....even with the link you posted
I did a little searching around the site then tried to find it again and couldn't
The price looks to be headed toward spot+ and the sellers feedback makes me a bit nervous.

They take items off their search when they don't have them in stock after a while. However, using google, you can still find certain items. You can search only a specific site at google by putting this in your search...

The truth is this: The march of Providence is so slow and our desires so impatient; the work of progress is so immense and our means of aiding it so feeble; the life of humanity is so long, that of the individual so brief, that we often see only the ebb of the advancing wave and are thus discouraged. It is history that teaches us to hope.
Robert E. Lee
What was your course of action. Did you request a refund from the seller or did you have to take other actions. I just requested a refund and cancellation from the seller due to the fact that he is Thailand but yet states he is shipping from NY. Very misleading to say the least. If this doesnt work out i may have to do a chargeback with my CC company

Did the same thing as you. I don't believe I got a reaction until I opened a case. So I was in limbo for two days or so. I think I actually called eBay about it because like you I got confused about all the different locations. The rep even said that his actual address was in Singapore. What the..? It could be same guy just registered under different eBay ID's. Anyway, seller assured me item would be shipped from NY but I didn't want any of it so refund was processed and transaction cancelled. I am now extremely cautious on eBay. Pretty disappointed that the customer service ppl I talked to didn't seem to care that much about the situation and the fact that the seller is in Singapore, registered in Thailand, selling out of NY and charging CA sales tax. Redic!

Just looked in my eBay and PayPal. I actually opened the case through PayPal not eBay. I think they're better to deal with a little bit. Also, maybe will help you out... Good luck. I'm sure it will work out.

I read up on some information/story on the silver in these type bars....interesting read.
A blerp off of the pages
In 1979 the US government determined that silver was no longer a necessary strategic metal with the new threat of the Hunt Brothers sending the price of silver over 50 Dollars an oz.
A plan to deflate the threat was developed by the Government.
New rules were imposed at the NY stock exchange.
The second part involved releasing millions of ounces of Stockpiled Silver into the open market.
In 1981 that silver was minted into coins and bars by Continental Coin.
A relatively small amount (about 25 million ounces) compared to the Hunt holdings, yet it was enough to stabilize the spiraling price and send the Hunt Brothers into bankruptcy.
Beginning in 1986 the remaining silver from this stockpile was made into Silver Eagles, until in 2002 these US Government silver reserves were finally depleted.

I'm just not having much luck with silver bars I guess. That purchase was rotten. Then I thought I snagged four 5 gram bars for under $10 shipped from another seller a month ago. Not! Dude shipped one 5 g bar and claimed that was all I bought. The seller is US-based with decent track record but he's been really hard to deal with and still hasn't refunded. Joys of eBay.![]()

Found a gold nugget
I went to my local coin place this afternoon and picked up a roll of Liberty Walker halves for $400 which is only $4 over spot for the entire purchase. I do feel good about the deal. I also picked up some proof sets that I needed to complete my set of State Quarters.

I was able to find some info on it. It is 3.5g and .900 fine, so a hair over 1/10 ozt. Paid a premium for it, but I like it. It was minted by the Austrian Mint in 1964, with a mintage of 6770.

Before I throw out a great big WTF on this, since I do not know much about numismatics, I'll ask are these rare dates or something?

Here's a 5 peso gold coin seller will take $200 for. Melt is around $190. It looks to me it is damaged a bit.

So I think i got a rpetty good deal on the scrap lot below. 343 grams of sterling for just under $200. The one thing that has got me a bit worried is the two cnadlestick bases on the left. If theyre solid then Im good to go but what are the chances that it is filled with plaster. Are candlestick bases usually filled with plaster???

Looking at the picture, IMO you might be ok, the candlesticks shown were sterling weighted (plaster filled) but it looks like the seller has taken them apart already..it looks like it was a set of two candlesticks, each candlestick held two candles..you have both bases,.. those two round tin can lid looking things are the bottom of the bases, and those 4 cup looking things are what held the candles..Sterling weighted silver items are made from thin sheets of sterling silver..they would weight the bottom with either wax or plaster to give them more weight on the bottom of the object so it wouldn't tip over
No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping everybody on the couch.
Thanks...I actually just received an email from the seller and he actually took the weighted material out so it is indeed an all silver lot. The value of the sterling is about $278 right now and I got it for 198 so I think it is a great deal even if the refinery buys it at 90% of its silver value. All in all the total silver content is just over 10 ounces for a per ounce cost under $20
