The stars must really be aligned in my favor...I snagged a 1915 Danish Gold 20 Kroner (.2593) for $340 plus $9.95 shipping
Take away 5% from Mr Rebates and Ebay bucks and it comes out to $323 plus $9.95 shipping= $332.95 or an average of $1284/oz

Seems like every silver coin on ebay is a 1 gram coin. Where the hell did these come from?
Almost got burnt with one of these 1 gram coins priced at $24.95.
Just bought a few silver proof sets on ebay. 2003, 04, 05 I think (three of them anyway). All ended between 25-28 with shipping included. Considering there is $1.85 in 90% silver in each, I'd say that's a good deal (not even counting the proof nickel, penny and dollar in each).
Under spot ~ $1300/oz for gold commemorative set with 2 silver dollars and $10 eagle (.484 oz)

I think it will be interesting to see if a GIMMER takes that gold shot.
I was at a gun show over the weekend (Oct. 30-31) and saw some 90% dimes on a table (under glass).
I inquired about the price and he quoted me $4 for the Roosies and $5 for the Mercury (Liberty) dimes. WTF?? (over)
I asked "why so high?" and was told he had been to an auction the weekend
before and that's what they were consistently bringing!
Now, I understand "auction fever" and all that, but what are these people smoking?
On the other hand, maybe they're just anticipating the price in a few weeks?
Anyway, just FYI

Thanks, I've been watching it for a long time and there has been liitle for sale.
I think that most of the weak hands have been shaken out during this "recession."
The guy I bought from bought three years ago. I doubt that he made much of a profit but he needed the FRN's.
He also had baseball cards he tried to sell me...."No thanks."
I bought like a mad man Tuesday on ebay until I max'd out my Paypal credit and started hitting my bank account. For some reason (voting?) competition was lean and I got some great deals, even bought some fractional canadian gold very close to spot. Looking today, the ebay deals are few and far between. Hee hee!

I don't remember who got me doing this, ANTYEP?, but I took all my rare baseball cards and every year since, depending on my tax situation, I take the book value and write it off after donating to goodwill or another charitable organization. You can pick them up for penny'son book and write off the full book price. I fu**ing hate taxes!

WTF, is this seller serious? Spot +2% for an SAE? Must be a super high roller or a complete idiot.

I've only seen one high roller on Ebay, Blue Moon Coins, I believe.

This is what the ad says.
Based a spot silver price of $18.00 per ounce, we would sell you 4,820 (239 rolls) One Troy Ounce Silver American Eagles for $100,000.00.
That's $20.75/SAE (his ad), $27.183/SAE (14:31 CDT, now) . According to Ebay posting rules, that is what I would hold this seller to.
Sea Ya,
M
"Remember, wherever you go, there you are." unknown
If you do the math, they charge about 15% above spot, at $18 spot, they priced the eagle at $20.75. Ebay/Paypal/Shipping/insurance fees would be about 10%, then all the business expenses (I assumint the mint would charge something reasonable in huge quantities) 10% more. So they would be in a hole. But their feedback has only some thousand dollar transactions, on a higher profit margin, nothing in the hundred of thousands. So I guess they may find a buyer here, than they take it off-line, off Ebay/Paypal for the advertised price. That would make business sense at 5% or so profit margin for a large order ($100,000 +)
The way I read it, they get your $100K, take their 2% ($2K), subtract all their eBay/PayPal fees, and then "buy" the silver at the "wholesale" price with whatever is left.
In their example with $18 spot, their wholesale price would be around $20.34 (this includes their eBay fees on per SAE basis since I don't know how much they pay to eBay) to have the $20.75 per SAE final price after their 2% commission.
I agree with none of you cause I cant make a lick of sense out of the ad!

Either a great deal or a terrible deal depending on what's for sale:
http://cgi.ebay.com/10-American-Gold...item3cb23d6eb2
Only bid was placed for $1,000 (free shipping).
Title says you get "$10 American Gold Eagle Liberty Coin - 1/4 ounce Gold" which indicates the buyer paid $1000 for 0.25 ounces ($4000/oz) which is terrible
Description says you get "This will include a total of 2 - 2005 $10 Gold Eagle coins and 3 -2005 $5 Gold Eagle coins" which indicates the buyer paid $1000 for 0.80 ounces ($1250/oz) which is outstanding
-----
After closer inspection this was a buy it now for $1000 so I'm even more confused. If the seller is selling what they advertise in the description they'd have to be complete idiots to let that go for just $1000.
In the worst case scenario, the buyer is out only the return shipping, as he can always fall back on the Ebay's buyer protection with a not as described claim. Then is haha-ilost insteadThe days of the huge ebay scams are thankfully over. Unfortunately that made it a lot harder for the honest sellers on ebay too...
Just my 2 cents,
Oy Vey! $80 per ounce silver! all day long!

Well I will tell you MY secrets to cheap PMs. You see, since i live in Germany time is definitely on my side when people are either sleeping or at work. During those times between 12 AM Pacific Time and 12 PM Pacific Time Im either at home (awake of course) or at work. Most people during those times are either asleep or at work so it is hard for them to bid.
Ive snatched many many auctions recently that ended early in the morning or during lunch time, and now with me being in bed for the next 30 days it is becoming much easier to snag good deals.
My strategy may be tough for most people due to the times these auctions end. Ive also noticed that if i snag a good auction due to poor listing titles that often times a seller has other items of interest that also have poor title listing.
I think this one was a prime example of a poor title hence the low winning amount.
I was only teasing but thanks for sharing you're technique. I have tried that route before but I think guys like you were waiting on the other side of the world to beat us to it!
I've been having better luck doing the BIN newly listed approach. Kinda like prospecting where the more you search the better the odds that you will score.
Also I've noticed that certain demoninations/ weights tend to go unchecked more than others. It seems you have found the same with all your Sovs and other near 1/4 gold.
Truthfulness - Benevolence - Forbearance
Ive been doing the BIN searches as well and looking at all the European gold coins that seem to go unnoticed. Most of the gold ive acquired recently (4+ ounces worth) have been European gold. I think people are under the impression that when it comes time to sell that dealers will offer way below melt for them which is not true. Dealers such as Provident will pay you melt plus a few bucks over. If you can get them under melt even before taking off Mr Rebates and Ebay bucks then you are way ahead of the game.
I feel kind worried that this Jamaican gold coin may not have a good resale value but the discount was so good that even if they offer me $20 under melt Im still way ahead of the game. Some US gold is even selling for damn near melt so it is worth looking at them as well. I think too many people are concentrated on widely known gold and let these little jewels go by.
