Default NRA is Shilling for Universal Coin & Bullion

I get my copy of the NRA's magazine "American Rifleman" and what's on the cover? A fancy 1911 pistol surrounded by gold and silver coins and the UC&B logo with "The Official Bullion and Rare Coin Dealer of the NRA" under the logo. Now, I certainly don't disagree with the concept of promoting gold and silver to people, but picking the boys in Beaumont as their "Official Dealer"! There are so many good PM dealers out there that they could have used, but UC&B has been a big advertiser in AR mag for many years. Now, it is official!

I realize that many here have had satisfactory dealings with UC&B, but I don't like their high pressure sales tactics, encouraging people to buy overpriced numi PM's. Probably not the best introduction into PMs.

High pressure AND numi's suck. If you are correct and I assume you are, I agree that does suck.

Universal Con & Bull is definitely appropriate to be the official precious metal scamsters of the con-men of the NRA.

The NRA...supporting more gun control than opposing it, since 1968!

I posted their deal in the deal thread; I've honestly never had any problem ordering from them when the price was right. They've never called me to sell anything, but I've heard others have been nagged. Obviously, the cover itself is just a creative ad (both sides front and back are for 1st American). If you remove the ad cover the real cover is underneath. As for whether the NRA is good for gunowners, I live in Illinois, so we have to take all the help we can get. I'm sure I'd feel differently if we had any measure of firearms freedom in this oppressive State.

I hear you on whatever help we can get from anyone, here in IL-annoy. That's why I belong both to the NRA and the Illinois State Rifle Association (which is much more important than my National membership). I only belong to the NRA to be able to shoot at one local range. I also get a 2% discount at one gun store. I was a GOA member, but I dropped them.

Sure, if you can consider ASE's at $3 over spot, a "deal".

I gave up on "enforce existing unconstitutional laws" NRA. They have no credibility and niether do any of the other make-believe pro-gun organizations.

It really depends. For example, based on what I have seen in the past, the dealers in my local area have charged between $4 to $5 over spot on ASE's and that does not include sale tax (if bought in TN). Coin shows will probably have ASE's at lower than $3 over spot but a person will have to seek those deals out.

ATTENTION!!!!!! Read this very carefully: My gut feeling on silver is just that.......A gut feeling. I have absolutely nothing to back up my gut feeling with.

My gut says........Silver will NOT hit and hold $50 before 2015.

    Fixed it for you.

It's not UCB who's dragging the NRA down to it's level, the shoe is on the other foot.

You dupes in Illinois(ucks) keep supporting the NRA, just like you've been doing the whole time your rights have been eroded. And keep wondering why.

I agree the NRA has many problems with their "single issue" stance and especially their policy of automatically supporting pro-second amendment incumbents, regardless if a better candidate is challenging. However, I fail to see how the NRA's support in taking on Chicago on it's outright gun ban and taking on the State legislature on it's concealed carry ban can be construed as a negative. If I'm missing something as to how the NRA has caused only Illinois to be so backwards when it comes to gun rights, I'd love to be educated.

NRA was a bystander that tried to lay claim to the situation at the center of McDonald v. Chicago. It was the Second Amendment Foundation that sponsored the attack.

NRA v. Chicago was a lame attempt to distract from McDonald and refocus attention on the NRA™ brand name.

    What NS said.

Plus, the NRA lobbied FOR the NFA and GCA. That hurts EVERY gunowner/Second Ammendment supporter. I also don't like the fact that they still lie about their support of these acts (not to mention a plethora of others on which they played Judas).

I honestly don't know how ANYONE could support them at all, they really haven't done anything to support the 2A, they just have a phenomenal marketing program...

Thumbs up Re: NRA is Shilling for Universal Coin & Bullion

As an NRA member, I was interested in why they would be associated with UCB. So I checked out this Universal’s website and it seems they are very respected by lots of folks. I looked up the Better Business Bureau and UCB is accredited and has no unresolved problems. They do things to support the NRA and if they pay their ad bills, the NRA could do a lot worse.

Good for you. Personally, I'm not interested in doing business with people who have already gone to prison for fraud in the same scenario, but it's your money.
