Default Sometimes you have to check your six

and see if you are doing something right,

have a daughter in 2nd year major college doing aok and holding 3.75

second daughter just got a 4 yr tuition covered scholarship to the same major school,
she is holding out, waiting to see if NW in Chicago comes across with something,

now I know we rail on the educational system here, quite frequently actually, and mine are raised so they know the concerns,

and yet, they go nowhere without the furthering of their education imo,

so I see it as a good thing,

and yes, they both have small stashes of silver

    Hey Scorp,
good on you & good on them.
much as we rail here about the rip offs that higher education entails, getting your ticket punched is necessary for lots of job entrys .
So we have to live like there will be a tomorrow.

Now you have to make sure they meet the right guy, never get their hearts broke, & one day present you with some fine cubs to tussle with.

Toiling for the kids is what makes it all "bear"able. At the place where I work, newbies first get the company training, and then they get the real training by the old hands. In college the kids get the rough cut, but the real world will polish them.

They tell you they're studying, but this is probably what's going on....

If you do your job as a parent and educator of your children, by the time they hit the college scene they should have some ability to differentiate between what is important and what is propaganda.

As several have already mentioned it is really naive to think that skipping out on post high school ed is a wise choice. Sure it might work out for a few people (and has for members here) but the odds are against it.

I would advise to attend college. I did, Purdue and the Community college of the Army. 3 Trade schools, counting Army.

The trick is to balance practical knowledge with personal interest. I figured that fixing stuff comes natural, cars will be around for a while. Then I realized that engineers built things stupidly so I set off to help. Then I realized they were a hopeless group of idiots and started to build it myself.

Seriously though, toys are much more fun when you can design, build and fly it. The Wright Bros went a long way, however, it wasn't in a 747 or at 7500 mph. It isn't a seat of your pants world anymore.
    I'm done, It's on!
