Yeah but not for $3000. Maybe $2200 which is still $500 over spot but the 500 coin mintage should play into the value somewhat.
While the mintage of 500 makes the coin unlikely to grace my collection, the biggest drawback to any Canadian coin going artistic is the availability of only one side of the coin being available for the artwork. The formal head of Queen Elizabeth, though regal and detailed, just does not provide that same artistic opportunity as seen on the US UHR coin based on the St Gaudens double eagle where both sides provided masterful examples of high-relief sculpture on a coin format.
No way at that price. Either the coin is unimpressive or the photos are. The perth queen double portrait jubilee coin at least had a young face. Strange you didn't keep the weight standard (33+ grams.)
Its tough to look at one side of that coin, yet the ultra high relief of the queen makes it uglier IMO. Low mintage and the metal content are all that coin has going for it. Over all grade it a UGLI. The Canadian Mint must have taken notes from some of the spouse coins. Its a conspiracy to make people not want to buy Au coins!

The Golden rule: Those that own the gold make the rules.
Doesn't have much eye appeal for me. I'd prefer another 2009 UHR instead.
This is my favorite of the gold Maples. IMHO, the latest version can't hold a candle--

In economics, rent-seeking is an attempt to derive economic benefit by manipulating the social or political environment in which economic activities occur, rather than by adding value.
No monopoly in the history of mankind has reformed itself from within. It has always taken an external threat – a competitor – to drive internal change.

no...why pay all that extra for the amount of gold

If you want an OLD BAG buy a Queen Victoria SOVEREIGN or 5 pounds in the LAST stages or last issues.
In the meantime - buy UHRs cheap if you can.
