Default New to ME rolling miners cabin

Cabin fever is about getting the best of ME this year, coins ain't as much fun as they used to be so I'm achin to get back to the hills- and the gold. Picked ME up another camper sos my dog and I will be more comfortable during some of the unpleasant times. Anyways it was requested I should post some pics of my new mansion so here are a few. I know its old but its clean and has more amenities than I will need in the wilds. Anyways here she is 26' from tongue to tail. HH all, Mark

I like the layout, my 30 footer waste about 7 foot of its length for the back bunk room that is now just storage space.

Yea mine has two bunks next to the bathroom in back, nothing else to do with them but store stuff. Top ones only good for kid size, bottom one could be rented out I guess if I wasn't such an a$$. haha Darn sight better than my other one, it had a place for my bed and a little floor- I filled up the bed and my dogs bed filled up the floor. Maybe I will cook now instead of eating out of cans. HH Mark

Very nice unit. After a long day mining it will sure feel good for you to stretch out and get a good rest in there. Last year i spent most of my nights sleeping in the back of my suburban since my prospecting kept me pretty mobile but this summer i will be on more long term projects and will be dragging my old 19 footer out with me. It is nowhere as clean and fresh looking as yours though but it will sure beat a dirt bed or the back of the truck.

Good luck on your mining season and looking forward to seeing what you find this summer.

Nice. That will keep the rain off of your head and warm food in your belly. Life's too short to sleep in a tent and eat out of cans.

Yea I need to put that AC on Craigs list, I ain't gonna need it in the high country or run a generator to use it. Here's a pic of my other rig, '85 Charriot motorcycle hauler/camper. It kept the rain off too but not much room for anything else. Need to sell it too but if I can't in this economy I'll keep it for storage. HH Mark

Its clean now but I haven't went mining yet haha. Best of luck on your adventure this year Sampson- I just need to average a few grams (1 minimum-2 would be great) a day and I think I can do that easily where I'm at all summer. Next winter I may have to find some in a warmer climate. HH Mark

Schweet! I don't have the need for one right now but boy oh boy do I see some well cared for older ones for cheap! Motor homes too.

There was a mid size motorhome for sale last summer down the road from my cabin that was mint, it was unbelievable! Had around 14,000 miles on it and lived inside a large cement floor pole barn getting its arse kissed all those years.

The old guy ended up taking around 3k for it, no market for it here. We were making excuses to buy it.

This was bigger than I originally wanted and at $3500, more than I wanted to spend but I plan to be living out of it once I leave town so I splurged. I'll pull the awning down after a good days mining, crack open a bottle of bubblie and kick back. I'll be ready for them travellin hookers this year LOL. HH all, Mark

How long are you going to be out mining this summer Mark? And are you hand mining or using any equipment as well? Since you said a gram or two per day i would guess that you are highbanking and feeding by hand with a shovel?

I hope to be heading out within the next couple weeks as long as the weather stays nice and melts the rest of the snow off my claims. I hope it is a long season and i can stay out ontil late into the fall too since i have so many projects on the go this year and am sure i won't have enough days to do everything i want to.

Make sure to get some pics of your new luxury accomadations when you are out onsite and have lived in it for a while. I am sure it won't look so clean and organized for long.

You know if you'd give a brother GIMer an invite to real gold country you'd know how long I stayed- haha. J/K You seen the thread from last year, that was kindof a Highbanker on Steroids but yeah still had to shovel. That was a public BLM place and alas after last years "gold rush" they've changed the rules on us, no more high banking or mechanized anything. So now I will be stuck wheelbarrowing 100yds to the stream- problem is low snow that stream will just trickle by July, but that stream is just drainage off the real creek but we're not sposed to touch it till 1/4 mi down stream- I may be going way up the mountain with night vision- be like one of them Meth dudes- "Up all night, sleep all day".
Did you get your permitting done for some Mechanized, or are you still just out dikkin around? I know permits are a bich no matter where your at just currious what your plans are this year.
I should've went to Nome 10 years ago when an internet friend of mine did, this summer is gonna be a friggin madhouse up there. He can afford to sit in a lounge chair on the beach drinkin and watch the show- He'd better be duckin too though haha cause some of it won't be pretty, but he'll be out dredgin too- may be doin the shootin.

That dirt we was diggin last year was second tailings- hydralicked till 1911, then worked again with mechanized till the 70's or '80's- dam I know the hydro would miss alot but I got a bunch of lil nugs that I thought were easy to catch. Anyways I've got some reserve and have to send my folks 1500/mo to keep the house going + my own living expenses in the rig. Thas where the whole 1 gram/day comes in and 2 would be better.

I'll give ya this much.............. If your gonna be mechanized this year- good for you but......................I'm the most jealous person on the planet haha. BTW need to get you a good dog, keep them beers at bay- I mean bears haha. HH Mark
And to answer your question (when you coming back?), when I'm gone I may be gone- ain't got no Iphone and don't want one haha. so anybody got anything to say to ME, you got about a month then I don't know when I'll be back on.

I'm a little late to reply but the invitation is open. If you ever make it up to the great white north just sned me a message and you can come dig on my claims any day. I only have about 2000 acres under claim right now but there are quite a few nice places to dig in that area. Some of it was worked back in the late 1800's and some of it is untouched high benches that were too tought for the old timers to get water too. The average grade i will be working this year is right around 0.5 to 1 gram per cubic meter but there are some real nice pockets of between 3 and 7 gpm that really make me happy when i hit them.

I will be working almost purely mechanical this year and have two permits approved so far. I am working on the permit for a third mine right now and hope to have it up and running some time this fall if everything goes smooth. My first target this year should be snow free in the next couple weeks and i hope to get out to start working it as soon as i can. To start this year i will be using my new small excavator to do some trenching across some of the areas i was hand testing the last couple years. Once i outline and bulk test some large enough pay areas i will be moving the larger excavator in to do some volume. I am just about done building a small portable test trommel that should process about 2 to 5 cubic meters per hour and should pair up well with my new small excavator as a test plant.

I will be working onsite at least 5 or 6 days per week about 12 hours per day and hope to be able to process some good ground this season. Since i will be heading home about once a week for a day or two I will be sure to post some pics of my setups as i go and hope to have some good color pics that i can probably share too. I'll try to get some updated pics of my little test trommel when i can but for now here is a couple pics of my little excavator, the trommel when i was about half done building it, and me and my dog out for a walk a couple weeks ago. The dog is great at sniffing out the bears although i haven't trained him to bring me beer yet. I also always have a shotgun or lever gun with me as well as a gun rack in the excavator to keep the pests away.

Thanks for the invite Sampson, lots of fun waiting to be had with that digger and trommel. I might have to message ya if my back gets to hurtin too bad haha. I knew it still had to be white up there- friggin summer here already but it may just be a fake out- 80 degrees today. We do tend to get some heavy wet snows in April here though. I plan to head out in less than a month and see what kind of mischief my dog and I can scrounge up. If you beat ME out, post some pics to spur ME on.
All the best, hope we all find a ton. HH Mark

Hope your season is going well Mark. I am just back for a couple days but thought i would drop a few pics here so you can see how my season has been going.

Fairly good digging so far and out of 27 holes in the past three weeks i have found decent gold in over half of them. Also identified one larger channel with decent pay throughout a 60 foot wide by about 400 foot long stretch. Looks like i will be permitting for a larger operation on this site next year and i still have another three to four weeks to finish exploring it before i head north to a different set of claims.

    Hope you like the pics.

Trommel hooked to my quad while moving to a different hole.

The view from the seat of the excavator while feeding the trommel.

And a few pics of some of the cleanups. Found a couple spots with some fairly chunky gold as well as a couple spots with a real high platinum content. Each pic is a differnt cleanup from about 3 to 5 hours digging.

Not sure when you will be back to see this but i hope your season is going well and you have some pics of your golden finds to share too.

Looks like your doing good Sampson, I haven't even cleaned up most of mine. Just in for the weekend to take care of some business and heading back tomarrow. Haven't found the sweetspot yet where I don't care how far the carry is to the stream (mostly about 100 yards over cobble hill) but I have found some in the search for it.
Good luck on the rest of the season, HH Mark
