5 year/$90 million for cadaver neck manning??? Elway best hope this pans out or they will forget about his superbowl titles. That is a lot of money to tie up in a QB with major neck surgery. If this play fails it will set the donkeys back several years financially.

Don't worry! AIG is covering the QB, and if all else fails, fed.gov will bail them out.

That's surprisingly shortsighted of Manning - he should have gone to the 49er's. Moss, Manning and that def? Instant Super Bowl contender.

Biff Elway was never really impressed with Timmie T. (Me neither. Sure, he had some great games, but the "gods" were with him on a lot of those heroic comebacks.)

I'm sure there will be at least 42 pages in Manning's contract concerning him passing a dozen doctor's pre-season exams, and exactly what happens if he gets hurt again and can't play.

I bet there are strings attached to the $90M figure.

Something like ... if he can't play because of injuries after 2 years he gets $X amount?

Just guessing, but they'd be smart to do that...

Management reluctantly got behind Tebow after he led the team through many close wins.

They never did like him and made no bones about it.

I wonder how well the Broncos would have done had they got behind him earlier?

They sure liked the 'wins' though...

If Tebow signs with the Patriots, we know he's just in it for the ride. No way Belichek would play him.

Eli NFC Peyton AFC. I think the guy is out of his mind to play again. One wrong shot and he is in a chair for life. How much money do you need?

Manning REALLY wanted to stay in the AFC. I don't really blame him either because the NFC has a lot tougher teams to go up against. His eye in on another super bowl. Also, he will have A LOT more (if not complete) control of the offense in Denver. I doubt Harbaugh was going to give him as much freedom with the offense.

Its not about money for him. Its about his legacy. Also, would you want your little brother to have more super bowl wins than you? haha

His little brother can't hold his jockstrap. His mothe rand father ought to try to talk some sense into him. Maybe the old man is the problem. Manning is old even if he was in good health he's stretching it now.

Good point. Peyton is at his best in the no-huddle, calling his own plays. Biff Elway is from the era where the QB called most of the plays, not like now where for most teams every play is radioed in from the sidelines and the computer programs have every angle of every situation analyzed and it spits out the theoretical best play to run.

Let's be fair, Archie played mostly for the Awful Aints in the 1970s.

NFL contracts are usually largely NOT guaranteed, we'll see how much guaranteed money he gets in this deal. Depending on how much it's not necessarily a huge risk, and the upside could be great.

There's a lot of talk around the office here that if he came here, they would become season ticket holders. He would also seem to fit our offense that's more running back heavy than most. Here's to seeing what happens... it's definitely get interesting around these parts here soon.

Jaguars defense doesn't seem like it's too shabby either? They might just be a winning team if they pick up Tebow and build their offense around him.

Agreed, I think it would make for an exciting team, 2 running backs, one that can kinda throw and neither one goes down easy and a defense that seems poised to run with the best of them if we could just get points on the board and give them some breathing room.

Edit: Just did a quick glance, and we lost 6 games last season by 1 possession.

Ya, that could of been crazy, but ya never know. Look at the eagles last year. They were the "dream team" and thier performance was very sub-par. Big names bring big egos.

I understand the history of NFL contracts. However it was reported that the basis for negotiations would be based on Mannings $18 mill/yr he was making in Indy. Which does equate to 5/$90mill. I look for this to be $45 mill guaranteed with Manning being there two years. Unfortuantately the Broncos are not two years away from being in the same class as NE, Baltimore or Steelers (despite the fluke win).

i don't care what Peyton has done in the past
he's not worth a 5 year contract right now

maybe a one year contract with performance clauses

    1 year contract - 5 million
    each win - 1 million bonus ( plays 80% of game )
each passing touchdown - 250,000 bonus
    starts 12 games - 1 million bonus

is Dallas Clark and Hines Ward still available ?

one good hit and Peyton is done
i hope Denver beefs up the O line

from rotoworld.com on hines ward and dallas clark:
Mike Jurecki of XTRA 910 in Arizona is "hearing" that the Cardinals don't have any interest in Hines Ward.
The connection with Ward's ex-Steelers coaches is obvious, but the eye in the sky doesn't lie. Ward wants to play again, but we can't imagine any team giving him more than a cursory look in training camp. Those types of players get signed deep into the offseason, not in the first days of free agency. Mar 5 - 1:14 PM
    Source: Mike Jurecki on Twitter

The Denver Post's Mike Klis expects the Broncos to sign free agent Dallas Clark.
It's unclear if Klis is just speculating or passing along sourced information, but the move would be a no-brainer after the Broncos landed Peyton Manning on Monday and allowed their 2011 starting tight end Daniel Fells to sign with the Patriots. Clark would have to be a part of a tandem, however, as injuries have limited him to just 17 of a possible 32 games the past two seasons. Mar 19 - 1:14 PM

Unfortuantately the Broncos are not two years away from being in the same class as NE, Baltimore or Steelers (despite the fluke win).
I disagree, Denver has a very good D and may potentially have a potent offense now. Assuming Manning is still himself and can make do with Denver's receiving core. Only time will tell if any of that holds true though.

People only know him cause he's current, without 3-4 SB wins he will be forgotten as fast as Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, Fran Tarkenton ect, ect.

Dallas Clark would be a huge pickup for the Donkeys. He and Manning were the one of the best QB-TE combos in NFL history.

Marino was a very good QB & fun to watch,Troy Aikman & Terry Bradshaw were very good QB also their SB wins made them great QB. something Marino will never achieve & highly unlikely that Peyton will either especially with Denver, all he can do is ruin the legacy he has.

At the going rate, Peyton is worth it. He still has two (maybe 3) good years left. He's a gamer and in good shape... and the highest QB IQ. Not that Denver had any issues selling tickets... they can certainly jack the prices up now.

They will need play-makers... is Plaxico's phone ringing?

I agree with you, but unfortunately this is how NFL quarterbacks are graded. Peyton Manning knows this and its why he's back.

I have a lot of respect for this guy, even if he becomes a Donkey. His hard work and humble attitude (a quality long lost in current sports) might just get him there again. He deserves it.

I was predicting that Peyton Manning was going to sign with the Titans. As a Titans fan, I am disappointed but oh well..........

I guess that means no Tebow-mania in Denver next season.
ATTENTION!!!!!! Read this very carefully: My gut feeling on silver is just that.......A gut feeling. I have absolutely nothing to back up my gut feeling with.

My gut says........Silver will NOT hit and hold $50 before 2015.

Actually that can be said about anyone that has ever played the game. As far as the neck goes however, the fusion certainly won't cause him to be any more susceptible to injury and in fact should actually be stronger. Its all a question about whether his nerves have healed sufficiently for him to regain his arm strength. Since he did actually throw for them before being offered a contract, it would appear that it has.

So apparently "soon" means tomorrow. There's already a good bit of talk about the possibility of him coming back this way. If anything he does pump up the town, no doubt about that.

Peyton is hurt because Indy couldn't afford an O line to protect him. In Denver, I see more of the same.

From Tarrick Glenn to Ben "False Start" Ugo for the critical right guard position.

a 4th round pick for Tebow

I watched HBO's Hard Knocks a couple years ago when they were at the Jet's training camp. LOL...all I've got to say is that Rex Ryan and Tim Tebow sure do make an odd couple.
