There is much debate on oaths of office of government officials flying around and people have no idea what they are talking about so I decided to let you in on some research and common logical understanding. Almost 100 percent of the people believe the government people should take the oaths and if they don't then when they come after people, like you and me , Mr. and Mrs. John Q .. They have no authority to come after you, you say. What I would like to make certain is that the oath taken to the letter of the law is what they are following when they "come after you." People do not realize that when the oath is cited it is cited for a contract called a constitution of the corporation known as either the State or the United States. It is not taken of, by, or for the people of the country. Consider the political system. The entire body politic submits its consent to a contest called an election with the agreement that the prevailing side sends their candidate to office. When the office holder holds up his/her hand and takes an oath that oath is not to those who cast ballots but to those who did not. After all, the ones who cast ballots agreed (consented) to whichever form of government has most recently been voted into office.

The end effect is that should you, a voter, complain about a bill due to the unconstitutionality of that bill, and should you do so by filing a suit, all the judge has to do is pull up your voter registration card and point out that your consent was obtained.

I know this is not what most people believe. Hopefully your beliefs are not so set that you cannot reformulate them. After all, look what voting has done to the country so far. It does not suffer from lack of votes cast and yet is still messed up. Power is not what corrupts. Instead lack of accountability is what corrupts. The oath is what is to be used to hold politicians accountable. Hasn't worked so far. Instead voters seem to like to ride out the current scumbag and vote him out at the next election.

An oath is a promise made to God.

The affiant is bound to honor that oath, period.

The federal American oath (Article VI) and most state oaths focus primarily on the support of the Constitution.

Not the people, not the president, not the flag, etc..

To conduct the government's business in accordance with the "Owner's Manual" aka the Constitution....

QWAK,When I was swarn in to the ARMY, it was made abundently clear that LIKE it or NOT -- our LIFE had CHANGED and you would be held ACOUNTABLE for virtualy EVERY THING we did -- and WE WERE!

The OFFICERS on the other hand played by DIFERENT RULES and we were told -- "RANK has it's PRIVLIGES!" -- To me that ment -- THEY were MORE FREE than ME and the REAL WAR was ON for ME!

The NAM was just one place THEY sent ME -- because THEY could -- because I was a GI!

They could put me or any one in the STOCKADE for even slight infractions IF they wanted to go that far OR dock your pay or give you extra work and change WHEN or ware you worked -- very MUCH like being a PRISNOR only LESS RIGHTS!

WE some how in our minds -- came to see the SURENDER of OUR LIBERTIES as "HONORABLE" and "RESPECTABLE" -- as we were being DISRESPECTED!

ONLY when the ones who would RULE OTHERS are held ACCOUNTABLE will the INSANITY of GOVERNMENT CONUNDRUM be SOLVED!

what an oath of office does is creates a trust. They are swearing into the position and to duly perform the duties of ""trustee"" of the "public trust", ironically however the BAR switched it all up and while they are the trustees (in public office) and we are co-beneficiaries as the creators of their charter (constitution), where they are required to struggle UNDER the constitution and we are ABOVE the constitution. The purpose of government, ALL government in the US sole purpose for existence is to protect our rights, property and liberties.

You guys make this unduly difficult. Constitution of the people by the people for the people. Government of the people by the people for the people. The oath is to protect their rights and not infringe on them any more than what the Constitution grants government power to do.

Everything of which you speak goes against that and is therefore null and void if the people nullify and void it. That's the problem. As someone (vike maybe?) recently stated, the Constitution hasn't failed, the people have. Yes it's been subverted, but that's doesn't mean that was the intention or what it says.

You guys make it much more complicated than what it is. It is not for the state, it is for the people and the state is charged with keeping it that way. They are the servant.
