    Default Benelli M4 Tactical Shotgun

Current high bid for this Bad Boy is $2700.00 on Buds! Nice.

Benelli's M4 Tactical just got seriously weather-proofed with the addition of the NP3 finish and is now called the M4 H2O. It comes with a picatinny rail, telescoping stock, extended magazine tube, fully adjustable ghost-ring aperture rear sight, and windage-adjustable front sight.

Now the same Benelli M4 used by the U.S. Marine Corps can be your home defense shotgun of choice. When the U.S. Marine Corps went shopping for a shotgun, they bought the M4 — the 12-gauge shotgun that functions the first time, every time. Its unique Auto Regulating Gas Operated (A.R.G.O.) system developed by Benelli engineers has dual stainless steel, self-cleaning pistons located just ahead of the chamber that operate directly against the bolt assembly.

    Specifications

    Gauge: 12

    Barrel Length: 18.5"

    Weight: 7.8 lbs.

    Stock: Telescoping

    Capacity: 7+1

Sights: Ghost-Ring; Receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mount; Picatinny rail included.

    Metal Finish: NP3

For that price, you could get 6 or 7 Remington 870's for your entire family! Crazy!

They are nice. But your right, for its intended use you might be better off with a couple of 870's. I just like function more than form I guess.

Love that NP3 finish. But for a SHTF weapon, I chose the M2 over the M4. The M4 is a gas operated weapon, so the ports need to be cleaned every couple hundred rounds. This from the Benelli forum, but all gas guns are the same.

The M2 is inertia operated, so no cleaning nesc on this gun due to gas fouling. Members of the Benelli forum have tested the M2 after 2,000+ rounds with no break down to clean, and had no jams or Failure to Feed/Fire. There are Dove hunting operations down in Argentina. You shoot hundreds or rounds per day, they issue the M2 exclusively, and do not clean the guns for the entire week. Members of that forum say the M2 performed flawlessly for the entire week, and confirmed they ended up shooting "thousands of rounds" during their week.

Can't argue with those that say you can get ten 870's for the price of that M4. For the first couple hundred rounds, I would rather have the M4 over the 870. After that (assuming no cleaning can be done), the 870 wins out IMO. But an M2 vs an 870? My M2 has a 7 round tube magazine, fires as fast as you can pull the trigger. If cleaning is not a factor (I assume it is not a factor on the 870 either), than the M2 wins over the 870 (though the M2 cost me about $1,450 if I remember correctly).

I guess it's all about money at this point. If I were a wealthy Man, I would definitely own some Cadillac guns like these. The 870 is like the Mosin Nagant, you can arm your whole gang for not alot of money. I used to go shooting with friends of mine, clays, etc. Most of us had over and under, or auto shotguns. A close friend of mine would bring his pump shotgun. He was so fast with that thing, all you heard was two shots go off, you never heard the second round being jacked into the gun!

I've had my as-new Benelli M1 Super 90, with 24 inch VR barrel, extended magazine, mercury dampener, and all accessories for sale at gun shows for $895 with no takers...so I guess I'm keepng it.
