Default Relying on police WTSHTF: Good luck!

Just a reminder to any Pollyannas among us to do the math...if there's hundreds or thousands of people wanting help from tens of police, and if not all people are happy with the job the police are doing...

If you aren't prepared to protect yourself and your family WTSHTF, good luck. You'll need it.

i don't rely on them now and I am friends with a few. No reason to suspect they will be useful then.

    Thanks Nick,
    Logistically impossible for them.
No matter how much new and fancy equipment they have.
I am hearing that the talk among them is to be home with their families.
Nick, whaddaya know about " CMRF " I.E. Consequence Management Response Force ?

I wouldn't rely on anyone and the cops would be the last ones that i would want around. remember N.O. many gave themselves a license to steal and that was just one small part of America, imagine how many rogues there would be in a major depression and they start getting IOUs for pay .

I know that someone had better bring up posse comitatus and have the courts clarify it ASAP. The dispatch of the CMRF notwithstanding, have the courts said anything at all about posse comitatus since talk of civil unrest at home has started coming up?

    I just found this link:

    http://www.examiner.com/x-37620-Cons...-Nov-elections

And I hope people keep this in mind:

In 1968 the major players were war protesters. This time, the outrage simmering beneath the surface of American society involves a broad cross-section of the heartland, and most of them are heavily armed.

It is highly unlikely that these citizens would ever initiate armed conflict of any kind. In their view, gun rights are for self-defense--and for defense against tyrannical government, which our Founders regarded as the most dangerous force on earth.

However, it has become clear that other groups may well initiate violence in order to start an 'incident' that would give Obama and a rogue Congress a reason to implement martial law, confiscate the citizens' guns, enforce curfews, and suspend all future elections until such time as it is deemed 'safe' to proceed with human liberty as encapsulated in the right to vote.
I think the key phrase here is "self defense"--those of us who love freedom won't be inclined to start any trouble, but we'll be ready to finish it if it visits us.

We keep dodging that bullet, though not with the bonus army, for sure. That was shameful and so many WW2 generals participated. Patton led the cavalry charge on the vets.

I have worried this worry on and off since JFK got shot. Gun rights seem to be getting stronger lately, which is a good sign.

But yes, as is the nature of government, and as our founders recognized, eventually, and it did not take long in the USA, the gov sees the public as the enemy. George Washington put down one rebellion, and Adams concocted the Alien and Sedition Acts. It is pretty much a balance of powers issue that never goes away. The 2nd amendment is a big help, IMO.

And no, I don't think calling a cop would be much use if things got hairy.

Here's hoping things change for the better in a calm way.

At that point, you'll only have police protection if you live next door to him; he ought to consider you part of his perimeter.
